|shockey67||New Radiator, new hoses, new Thermo and new coolant, temp guage is where it is supposed to be, I guess I'm set. Gotta tell you, changing the raditor in my Wrangler was probably the easiest thing I have done to it.|

The official thermostat specification calls for a 195 degree thermostat, you won't find a 210 degree model thermostat at your local auto parts store.
210 is right where the engine runs and the computer was programmed for that temp. Yes it will normally run pretty darned close to 210 with a 195 degree thermostat.
Tip: Select/install a thermostat with an air bleed hole and position the bleed hole at the top when mounting the thermostat. The bleed hole allows for easier "burping" of air from the cooling system.
The two below pics each show a bleed hole. One was added by drilling a small 1/8" hole in the flange, the other is a factory thermostat. Jeep recommends thermostats with the bleed hole.

My 2000 4.0 calls for a 210 Stat, and that's where it runs year round.
Your Thermostat regulates the FLOW of the cooling fluid, HENCE, a high flow water pump would really be of no benefit ---- UNLESS your temp starts to run above the
210 range, where the thermostat would remain open. The idea of the thermostat is
to allow cooler coolant from the Radiator into the Block, and the Hotter, 210 or higher
coolant from the Block to the Radiator, allowing it to cool when the Stat is closed.
Am I making sense here, kind of like a back and forth type of thing.
Now then, if the coolant doesn't have the chance of cooling in the Radiator, as in the
Thermostat never closing, giving it that chance to cool, then the coolant will keep
rising until you red line, and something gives. The HIGH FLOW water pump would
then be of a benefit, provided the Radiator is capable of dissipating the heat.

Hang on..let's start at the start.
First of all, exactly what temp thermostat, and what pressure radiator cap does the book for YOUR engine/tranny combo say you are supposed to be running?
Replace BOTH now to what is specified..Yeah just do it cause they should be changed every few years antway, so do it...THEN operate the critter and see what the idiot gage reads....While changing the stat and cap, wash off the radiator with strong garden hose, NOT pressure washer....And check fan belt tension.
As far as 210 being too hot? Well, if the book sez you need a 190 degree tstat and you are running @ 210, then the stat should be wide open and the cooling system is not able to maintain 190 or below...therefore, you have a problem.
I ain't sayin 210 is too high, it just depends on where it SHOULD be based on tsat setting and the ECU happy place.
First discover where it should be, then decide if you have a capacity problem.

Just make sure to keep your coolant in good condition, use only distilled water to mix with the coolant, and keep an eye on its overall condition.

|jeepwayoflife||I would just leave it stock and see how it does. Would the stock radiator be able to handle more coolant flow? You might have to replace both to really see an improvement. Stock stuff seems to last a long time, and unless its not living up to your standards, it should be fine|

Engine Temp Question - is 210 OK
Quick Question, I have a 97 Wrangler with the 4.0L and I am wondering what the normal operating temperture is as my quage is always right below 210. Want to know if this is normal as I live in AZ and this will be my first summer. I am thinking of adding a high volume water pump. trying to prepare for the 120 degree heat and I want to avoid the red mark as it is not too far from the 210 mark. Any thoughts or comments would be great.
