longarmedwrangler There's a guy in pa who does om617 swaps from the Mercedes for 4,000 for a complete install including motor when all said and done it gets 27 MPG with 33 the HP is 160 and the torque is 200 give or take.

longarmedwrangler It depends on your needs, it can start anywhere from I think 2500 to 16000 for a turn key install. Ive been debating a while on either a 4bt or the tdi, the tdi seems the way to go with a tune and intercooler more boost it will throw down some good numbers and around 30mpg the 4bt would be nice but it eats Dana 60's you'd have to build the drivetrain extensively. Plus I've heard alot of guys say it feels like driving a tractor, plus I don't think I need all the torque the tdi runs alot smoother as well they both have there place if your trying to build a monster I'd go with the 4bt.

Jo1175 Yeah, that vw swap is nice. I think I will scrap that idea and go with that....I just have that 1.7 engine, thought it keep down the cost. The vw engines are proven...... And a kit takes the guess work out.....how much is it? I looked on their site, no mention..... They don't have the kit yet for my trans.. I have a 4.0 but they are in progress with it they say

longarmedwrangler Not sure if this helps but i was searching on google for tj diesel swaps and there was a guy who did a old Isuzu 4BD1T but he did a different transmission then the nv3500 I'm guessing you have. And if I remember he came into a problem with the axles because of where the downpipe comes out he had to get different axles with the differential out of the way. I think you could do it but it would deffinitaly be time consuming and cost alot. If I was you I'd sell it and get the cummins 3.9 4bt. There's plenty of afternarket support for this swap one being Jeff Daniels jeep company. There's also a company who does a swap for the 1.9tdi motor in a tj that will work with the stock, tranny, and axles. That company's hpa motorsports there stuff is a bit pricey but I think its well worth it that's the route I plan on going with. Good luck!

TJ Diesel with 5 speed?

Has anyone put a diesel in a TJ with a 5 speed trans? I have a small 2005 4 cyl Isuzu turbo diesel from a boat that is 120 hp, has everything.... Mounts aren't a big deal to make. But trans bell housing might be hard to find. Does anyone have any ideas? Even with a diff diesel engine thanks
