YJ325i It is common on some installs to have to lower the tank, just use a hydraulic jack to support it, as long as your tank/plate bolts come free, should not be a big deal.

YJ325i I am in the market for the SmittyB rock crawler bumper w/ hitch, and several reviews stated they had to lower gas tank to install. So not unreasonable you may have to do this on several models. Does not look that hard. Just use a hydraulic jack to support the tank.

87 wrangler factory hitch help

I just purchased an 87 wrangler and was looking to put a hidden hitch on. When I started the install I noticed the factory hitch mounted directly to the bumper with 4 bolts was in the way. When I tried to remove it it appears I will need to drop the gas tank in order to get to the nuts holding the hitch on. Any one experience this issue? Or have any thoughts? How major an undertaking is removing the gas tank? I am on the verge of taking her to someone to install the hitch.
