Rusty Knutt Mine is on a pcv valve on one end and direct the the air plynum on the other. No filter, hope that helps

Rusty Knutt I have the 5.3 in my GMC, it doesn't have any filter at all...ill take a pick and post it later today.

Just that if the blowby gases in the valve cover are not released then crud could build up there and in the block as well. Or so I m told.

I read somewhere a long time ago that the case needs negative pressure to best prevent build up

Or ir could be the entire PVC system is just more smog control and no other advantage. IDK

(oh forgot to mention this is a silverdao v8 in a TJ just fyi)

Rusty Knutt not entirely certain, but I believe it goes to the MAF and is an emissions control measure. Is there any reason you are concerned with it, ie. fuel eco, loss of power, throttle response?

pcv system in a v8 question

I have a 4.8 gen III 08 engine in a TJ there is a vent out of the valve cover I think it originally went in the intake but I dont know if it was before MAF or TB or Direct to intake.

Would it be best to just put a small filter on the hose? This would prevent putting dirty air into intake. But would a filter only that has no vacume be good enough to not allow buildup in the valve cover?
(no need for emissions btw)

Ideas?
