|Peepers||Have you tried looking into the settings on your phone to see if there is a way to stop it from disabeling the mic? I know android has a huge forum group that can usually solve most of my phone problems...|

if you're in the market for a new headunit, i just installed the pioneer6400bt
comes with bluetooth ready meaning you don't need anything than a bluetooth able phone
i can stream music, make calls etc. without any wires. i hate loose wires on my dash.
the mic that comes with it is 'decent'. i've only tested it few times, maybe there's alternative options but we'll see. i have yet to test it while driving on highway though.
i paid $119.99 after $20 code you can easily find online. i think it was a good purchase.
one thing i noticed when i installed it into my '05 LJ was that the body was maybe 1 inch longer than the stock radio. I had to kinda bend the metal security bracket a little back to make it fit.
I don't have a security bolt in there now (crossing fingers) but i'm happy with it.

|pasteris71||Check out the Jabra Bluetooth. Clips right on the visor and works pretty darn good. Have it in my Jeep and it was only like $50 on EBay.|

Phone, blue tooth, have to spend more $
I had an HTC Android before and my JKU has the barebones stock stereo.
I simply would plug a 3mm patch cord between my phone's output and the stereo's aux input.
I could stream pandora or music from the phone and also amplify the phone calls thru the stereo. The HTC's built in mic on the phone worked fine for hands free...even in a soft top Jeep rolling down the highway.
Now I decided to upgrade to a Samsung Windows phone...which I mostly like, but has one really annoying flaw...or design issue: whenever there is a 3mm output cable plugged in, the mic is disabled!
So my "poor man's" handsfree system no longer works.
I guess the next option would be a BT adapter like Jabra or Parrot, or maybe change out the stereo...? not sure which I would want to do. Thoughts?
I just spent a crapload of $ on the phone....don't relish the idea of spending a crapload of $ to make it work like my older phone did.....
