yjJEEPyj correct im using a np231 from my wrangler YJ I have a SYE and Cv shaft already. I will be buying a converter. So scense the 2wd and 4wd will both work.. I am going to get the 2wd because its cheaper.

i actually don't know. all i know is that is literally the only difference between the two. the internals are all identical. you could swap out the output shaft on the 2wd to a 4wd if you find it needs to be shorter, but by the time you did that you'd have been better off with the 4wd to start with.

abadoobi you are using your stock NP231 right? if so it does not matter 2 or 4 wheel drive as you will need an adapter to run your stock t case. that will run you right around 500 bucks. i just bought one tonight

TH350 4WD or 2WD?

Hey guys. I bought a sbc 350 and am currently looking for a th350. I found a freshly rebuilt th350 with a shift kit but it's a 2WD, is that ok? or do i need a 4WD? My 350 is stock. Im going to be using a Np231 The shop want 400$ for the 2WD or 550$ for the 4WD
