|coolman8bc||Oh no I'm not complaining at all, I was just making sure it was in the right ballpark.|

I never got below 20mpg w/ my old '71 CJ5 w/ the V6 Dauntless (4 spd),
and have gotten from 22-24mpg w/ my new (to me) '00 4.0 Sport (3.73 w/ 235/75-15 tires and 5 speed).
I DO drive very conservatively (think "Old Fart", and this is on rural 2 lanes w/ VERY little in-town driving.
That said I do not always get great mileage on everything-my last FJ-40 in primo shape never gave me better than 15mpg no matter WHAT I tried.

Have an '00 with a 2.5L, Rock-It air tube and filter, 5 speed, and 30" tires. With midgrade gas I get 20-22 all the time and 23-26 on the highway.

|Odhinn||Don't have a 4 banger, got the 4.0 and I get about 18 on a good day. I just blame it on the fact that I have the aerodynamics of a box on wheels.|

|coolman8bc||Well i'm feeling kinda lazy right now so I'll just accept that my 18mpg is normal. thanx|

Can anyone tell me what the typical mpg is for a 4 banger with slightly larger than stock tires is?
