Kevbz i dont understand what the issue is. if you found a frame, but the mounts are wrong, then cut and grind them off. then find new mounts for a 6 cyl and have them welded on in the right spot. or if you are good have them cut the 6 cyl ones off your frame and weld them to yours

the only other options is to find a 6 cyl frame and do a straight swap

General Jeep no ones ever needed engine frame bosses or whatever they are called to keep the motor attached to the frame? the welded on parts no ones ever had them rot or had some break or do what im doing?

Kevbz I dont think you could salvage the mounts after cutting them...advanced adapters should have mounts for sale

General Jeep So how hard would it be to cut my old mounts off and weld them on the new frame? would you recomend this or recomend looking for a 6 cyl frame i bought the donor car for the axles.

General Jeep Alright thanks guys ! Anything else I should know?

Kevbz after that the only issues you might have are if you find a newer TJ frame they switched to metric bolts in sometime 00-03 (can't remember exact year) so if this one dosent work out and you find might have to buy new hardware that attaches to the frame

he's right on the money there^^^

you can use a four cylinder frame, you have to cut and grind the 4 cyl mounts off, and mock up new 6 cyl mounts with measurements from your old frame. if you are swaping every thing over to a new frame is a minor speed bump

the diffs and shocks and tanks and tub and most everything else is the same

Plowboy1970 Axles will swap. But you will have to weld new motor mounts in. They are in different spots.

General Jeep what about the differentials for the 97 4cyl will they fit the 98 6 cylinder frame?

Need new frame help

So here's the story, I was driving down the road one night and some drunk lady did a left turn into me. She took out the suspension and many other components but also racked the the frame. I found a frame for a 97 but I don't know if it will fit a 98 sport. Are 97 and 98 frames compatable? The 98 had a ax 15 and an inline 6. The 97 had the ax 5 and the inline 4. I need help ASAP for the purchase. i need to know by thursday :-/.
