|Ibuildembig||Yall might look at advanced adapters as well, they are usually cheaper than Novak. An AX5 won't hold a 4 popper very long much less anything else. You should be able to get 500 out of yours, and that will help your project|

I'm planning to swap to Chevy small block and 4l60e tranny myself....If I had a wreck in the yard already it would be done.
I'm presently being patient and watching for a 5.2 complete with tranny, computer, harness and cable throttle....while I wait for an engine to pop up, I'm doing my homework identifying parts sources and prices, plus reading everything there is on the subject.
I'm keeping my Jeep forever, so this is a MUST build for me.

If you were going to swap that motor I would stick with the tranny that's already on it. I doubt your ax5 would last long.
You probably be better off just doing a complete drivetrain swap from the Tahoe. Easier said than done...

V8 In mY TJ
I was reading through all the previous posts on motor swaps trying to get a better handle on things, after a couple of posts it turns into a 2.5 vs 4.0 thread so lets leave both of those motors out of it...Right now my Tj has a 5 speed 2.5. I want to know what motors will bolt up to the ax5 or ax15? I know companies offer some bell housings to accomodate but are there any bolt ups? I have a 99 Tahoe with the 5.7 vortec and 4l60e sitting @ hte house, it was perfect with less that 130k but last Sept the wife rolled it. Shes okay and walked away with scratches and one soar back but the truck was totaled. Liabilty ins only, which i'll never do again! Anyway, would it be a nightmare to get that motor in the Tj? My 4 banger sits on 33's with stock gearing, i bought it that way and drive 70 miles a day round trip. it was windy today and I realized how small it's nuts were. lol Would gearing make that much difference? I hear 4:88's the sweet spot for the 2.5 but i just need a weeeee bit more for the hills, dont need to go 80 but would like to hold 65. Help me guys! help me
