I used to get "free" stuff from work too, usually it was because of no labeling or MSDS labels, so I'd bring it home rather than throw it away....After 30 years I accumulated a good supply of STUFF...Now I'm trippin over it.
Just don't take more than you can use !!
I don't want you to trip over stuff.... "BH"

I don't think thats THAT much of a difference. Your in TEXAS, pretty high temps in summer. You may experience stiff shifting in colder days. Depending on your Rear Axle Ratios.. I have 4.56 in my old truck and I been using straight 140 wt for years, no problems here in oregon.
Try it in your transfer case/trans (you have a stick ??) and see how it shifts....I wouldn't hesitate about putting that in my rear axles, so long as it's rated for HY-POID service , oil shear factors are different for Hi-POID. Just my 2 bits.... "BH"

|QADaemon||Well that would be an 85W140 equivalent. The service manual calls for 80W90 or 75w140 for towing. I doubt I'd want to run that much of a difference from the recommendation myself.|

Royal Purple ?
I have acess to free royalpurple oil that we use at work in some of our biger pumps and such. The only info on the drum is that its ISO 320 grade oil. We run it in all kinds of gear ends and boxes at work and I dont see why it wouldnt work for the diffs of a dana44. I was just wondering if anyone knew something about it.
