I do a lot of shooting and the ranges I use are literally out in the middle of nowhere and absolutely nowhere on friends' remote property. These places obviously don't have roads and when it's wet they can get downright ugly. I've had times when I've almost backed out of going when I first looked at them but decided to try anyway and the TJ hasn't let me down yet. No worries about they're capabilities, buddy.

And BTW - It's AWESOME that you've enlisted in the Marines. I appreciate your willingness and ability to serve where I wasn't able to. You're a good man and a hero. And you deserve to drive a Jeep, not a scrap-heap Altima.
I am just enlisted, havent even made it to boot yet. My fellow brothers who have earned their title are the heroes. Im just a kid with a dream

That's spot on. I personally don't recommend the Jeep as the only vehicle anyway. Mine is parked in the garage with the top off waiting for sun drenched days. There is no way I would want a Jeep with the top on. I have other cars for that. I would never want to have to put the top up and down if that was my only vehicle.

MickeYJ Jeep!!! It's more fun!!!!!!

U see your friends moms driving altimas.... Let them.

97-06... If your gonna keep it stock just get a 4.0 and you'll be alright, a yj (80's-95) can be great vehicles too. I would drive one.

Considering I just looked at Craigslist in Arkansas in 5 major cities( don't know where in AR you are located) and found several in the 5-6000 range, I assume you can find something with a little digging.

Good luck and enjoy your Jeep

OregonRubicon IMO get an Altima.

I have owned well over 40 cars in my life, 2 CJ5's and now a 2012 JK Rubicon.

I know for a fact if you have some piece of junk car just sitting there for weeks on end it won't bother you as much.

When I walk by my Jeep every day to catch Public Transportation it just kills me.
03-20-2012 12:56 PM
stangruns11s to be honest with you everybody i know who has had an altima has had tons of problems with them and its not like its a speed demon no dose it look good imo i say if your gunna get sumthing other then a jeep get a mustang or a camaro but not an altima
03-20-2012 12:29 PM
Mitchness If mileage and safety are your only concerns then get the Altima.

If everything else is your concern get the Wrangler.
03-20-2012 10:50 AM
EdCrbnSoul Of course the bias is going to be toward the Jeep on a Jeep forum and would take it any day of the week over an Altima.
If I was looking for quick and worried about gas mileage I would lean towards the 6 cyl Mustang 305 HP 31 MPG Highway
03-19-2012 09:52 PM
backwards Isn't Altima short for altimatum. Get the Jeep. No bias here. Maybe I'm thinking of ultimatum.........whatever
03-19-2012 09:51 PM
Another Guy In A Jeep The jeep doorless and topless is definitely a cool factor. Makes all the girl's heads go spinning at you while ur driving. I wanna see an altima get that.
03-19-2012 09:50 PM
GonzalezR Yea, the commute might cost a little more. But I'll have money in my pocket for it anyways. And It will defiantly be more fun driving a Jeep around base then a altima
03-19-2012 09:49 PM
GonzalezR Hah, Im thinking Jeep. I will defiantly be using it this summer to. Taking a trip to Michigan, and camping a lot! So Jeep it is!
03-19-2012 09:43 PM
Another Guy In A Jeep Might I add that by buying jeep ur supporting american based jobs.....

I read somewhere that like over 50 percent of the parts are made in us/canada.....the automatic transmission is made here and the manual is made in brazil.........but don't take that as fact
03-19-2012 09:43 PM
Crazyflyingplastics I don't think anyone on this forum will tell you to get the Altima! I personally wouldn't worry about rolling the jeep. As for gas mileage, well its like driving a box down the road. Stock jeeps are very capable offroad and you will learn a lot about how it handles driving it stock first on the trails.

As someone who sold his first TJ 3 years ago when my daughter was born, I had some regret. I acutally drove an altima and just sold it this past january to get another TJ. You won't regret it. And go with a TJ(1997-2006), just my opinion though.
03-19-2012 09:41 PM
computeruser Get the Jeep. There is NOTHING interesting about the Altima, and they're not even "fast" anyway.
03-19-2012 09:40 PM
jkaufman_95 I LOVE my jeep. Okay, but if your gonna be driving to / from base a lot, the mpg's of the nissan would be better, but ultimately I would probably buy a jeep.
