New2wrangler97 They had to put 4 windshields in my work truck before they got one that wasn't wavy. Great installation, bad product.

J20 Safelite tech just installed new windshield. It was much better than the first piece they installed-diffenent brand but still made in china. It is acceptable with just a very little wave which is really hard to see.
The tech did a really good first rate job. I just have to wonder do they
try to put in a really cheap glass ( more profit for them) untill a customer complains and then put in a better glass?
Master 4th-thanks for the link it was VERY interesting.

J20 Safelite should be here around 10 AM with another possible windshield. If it is not flat I will call my ins. company and request another company be
sent, but do they all use the some suppliers? So far every windshield they
have sent out has been made in China-go figure!!

mckey73 Look up you local PPG dealer, it's the only glass I will use. The last cheap glass I bought scratched when I used windex with paper towels - drove me insane.

crafty Not familiar with them but ask if that shade across the top is between the glass or on the surface of the glass. Between is better quality. OE equiv is good to see over just the term replacement also. I noticed that on the glass listed by itself.

Hope that helps

riceroni87 is the one from jeepglass.com any good?

crafty Call and price just the glass. Companies might offer you a couple options. The ones with the built in tint across the top are generally the better quality. You can also ask if they have an economy and a better grade.

Im in the market for a new windshield, what companies are good, and which should I avoid like the plague?

Master4th I don't think its legal for them to sell you a wavy windshield.

Kahuner Wavey glass is poor quality plain and simple!!! Best keep secret in the auto industry in which I spent 25 yrs in Detroit.

My replacement windshield is dead flat. Of coarse I'm typing this and it's dark so I can't tell you what make mins is.

Bottomline is; ask for a refund if they can't install a flat, distortion free, windshield. Inspect the glass before they install. Safelite should be ok.

My $.02

gmcnutt13 Yes, i bought a 88 YJ and my winshield in it right now has a slight wave to it. It drives me NUTS!! It actually makes you sort of dizzy looking through it. But i have gotten used to it and have completely forgotten about it until someone rides with me and mentions it. I keep hoping a rock hits it soon so i have an excuse to just replace it.

Wavy windshield glass problems?

I had the windshield in my 91 replaced about five days ago due to a rock chip which began to spider. The next day I noticed the glass was real wavy when looking through it at an angle. The glass company sent another tech out the next day with a replacement and it was just as bad as the first. Today another tech brought two different brands out-one was bad and the other was not perfect by far but much better than what
was in it. So during the prep process the new glass slid off his stand and broke of course. They will try to have a new glass here in two more days.
My question is are all flat glass windhields some what wavy or are they just blowing smoke. By the way Safelite told me there were no Mopar
OEM windshields to be had anywhere. Anyone have the same problem?
