New Drive shafts
That list alone drove me crazy for over a year.
You will need a new gas tank and fuel pump so you might as well get new fuel lines.
With the new engine comes new motor mounts and new tranny mount. Where do you put the motor? Will it clear your exhaust and drive shafts with no problems? Will it be inline with your axles? What about wiring? You have to make the existing wiring work. Your 4 cylinder PCM is useless so huck it. What about the dash? It won't work without the old PCM. So that means new dash gauges.
Next is the tranny. What tranny? 5 speed or auto? Makes a huge selection in gearing and what axles will live longer. Is your auto or 5 speed a 4wd tranny? It probably won't bolt to the tcase you want so you need to call advancedadapters.com. Holy crap that is an expensive phone call.
Once you can bolt a tcase to your tranny then what?? Do you do it right the first time and get an atlas or stak box?? That's freakin expensive as well. What did I do?? Crawl box! NP231 to Dana 300. Twin sticked and really freakin low.
What about drive shafts?? You can't stick your stockers in there and you want something that will last. highangledriveline anyone?? for one ton shafts you need to budget a grand or so.
Axles?? D35? No. Dana 30? No. 44s?? no. Might as well go big once and be done with it. Any normal large sized tire will takes its toll on a dana 60 with stock shafts. So you have to upgrade those. Has anyone checked into the price of a going beefy dana 60 front steering axle?? That could discourage you in a heart beat.
If you wanted larger tires how are you going to turn them?? Hydro assist? good way to break stuff. Full hydro? Good bye street time. No street time it is time to buy a trailer and a truck to haul you to and from the trails. Gas at 3.+ a gallon?? Who's going wheeling again??
The best advice I could give someone is figure out what you want your jeep to be and work towards it. Do not skimp on price or products cause it will cost you more down the road. Get what you want and start price shopping. Once you figure out your budget add 50% more to that to get your project going. There will always be unknown costs you have to account for. Drill bits, cut off wheels, welding, bandaids, hose clamps, sanding discs, broken tools, gloves, oil, the list just goes on and on.
My head hurts now and I really don't have the motivation to go work on my jeep. So thanks!

in my opinion that is why you don't do one without the other. I wanted a LT1, 42" tires, and lots of gear reduction. That equals big axles.

This is my suggestion as well. After seeing what I have in store for a V8 swap I can't say I'm too enthused about the idea. The 6 is a stout motor and with every option to get lower gears I don't see why you wouldn't swap it out for an already equipped 4.0L wrangler.
Of course.... There is something about 350+ ft.lbs of torque at your foots desire

You said a mouthful there my friend. I don't even want to admit what it cost me to put a V8 into my YJ. Of course I could not stop there, I had to put in the D60 front axle, and the GM Corp. 14 bolt rear axle. Then I had to put in the Stak Monster 3 speed transfer case, and the GM 465 Granny 4 spd transmission, just for starters............lol. It is definately cheaper to find one on Ebay, already done, and will cost thousands less. It is a very poor investment.
Best thing to do is trade it in for the 6 cylinder.

Are you doing all the labor yourself? Unless you have a cheap donor vehicle with most of what you need, and are doing the work yourself, you are going to spend a ton of cash. Better to sell the 4 banger and look for a v8 that someone else has already sunk all that money into that they will never get out of it.

V8 conversion for 2000 TJ
I have a 2000 TJ with 32000 miles and I am sick and tired of the 4 banger. Looking to swap in V8 probably ford 302. Has anyone done this? Is there a supercharger made for the 4? I am looking for advice.
