RMA'd the amp...gonna send it back soon. I didn't have any way to swap it out with other electronics, but had it looked at by two audiophile buddy's. One ruled that it was most likely bad by just unplugging the RCAs at the amp and finding it still was drumming. The other suggested trying a different ground just in case. So i created a super short ground wire (4 gauge still) and grounded it like 6" from the amp. Still existed. I'll try a new amp and see how it goes.
I also need to build/buy a new box...my box was awesome...or so I thought. Constructed of 1/2" scrap MDF (I like 3/4" but I didn't have any laying around)...assembled with a brad nailer...sealed with Liquid Nails...then for durability and water protection, I coated it with 3 coats of Rustoleum bedliner.
After cranking the volume up 2-3 times....I separated the entire back panel from the box...it couldn't handle the pressure.
So now it's held together with about half a million screws...which looks like crap...but at least it's not rattling and falling apart. But I'm sure I've still got leaks since it obviously broke the seals when it separated that panel.
It also solidifies my opinion on why I always recommend against bedlining the tub using the cheap Walmart "bedliners"...3 coats of my Herculiner would have had RIDICULOUS amounts of strength. Rustoleum/Duplicolor are basically glorified paint.
Anybody recommend a good site to order a custom box that'll fit behind the rear seat? Preferably one that is bedlined, not carpeted since I do drive topless/doorless/windowless 4 months or so out of the year, rain or shine.

|s3nt3nc3d||Okay...so we unhooked the RCAs at the amp, problem still exists. I also rerouted my wires so my power wire doesn't go across the speaker wires or RCA cables. My buddy thinks the problem is in the amp and I should return it. Are there any other potential causes of this knowing that bit of information before I contact the company and try to exchange it?|

I'll check it out tonight... my radiator decided to go kaboom on me yesterday (cracked right along the top...UGH) so I'm having that replaced as soon as I get around to dropping it off. My friend/mechanic is also a car audio nut so I'm gonna see if he sees any obvious problems with it.
I haven't done the big 3...but I did replace my body and engine grounds with a thicker/higher quality ground while tracing back grounding problems with my CB radio. I had a system in my Jeep once before and never had the problem...so I'm hoping it's just in my wiring somewhere. Probably where everything comes together at the one point I'm betting.

Unplug the RCA's at the head unit and see if you still have the noise. If you do, unplug them from the amp. If unplugging them from the head unit stops the noise then it's possibly a ground loop at the head unit. If unplugging at the amp stops it, it's likely cross feed from the cables. If the noise persists with the RCA unplugged from the amp, then it may be a ground loop at the amp. If your speaker wires for the subs are crossing the power/ground, rearrange them.
Have you done the Big3? Sometimes that will eliminate noise issues.

Got everything wired up today...it looks and sounds great...however, I have one slight problem that hopefully one of the sound gurus here can help me solve.
When I have a CD playing and the ignition on...I didn't check with engine running, can do that tomorrow, even with the volume at 0 and the subs disabled at the headunit, I'm getting a drumming sound from my subs and you can feel them pulsing. Something is sending the amp a signal or the amp is sending out a signal causing them to do that I'm assuming. I had this problem before in another vehicle but can't for the life of me remember what fixed it.
All connections are tight...power and ground wiring is KnuKonceptz 4 gauge wire.
Anybody know? Only thing I can think of is all my cables briefly meet up at one point and I'm wondering if maybe my speaker wires or RCAs are getting interference from the power/ground wires?

|s3nt3nc3d||Nah, I run sealed boxes and down firing is out of the question...my box is already designed and built and downfiring won't fit properly with the box I'm using. My last one was downfired though and I liked how it sounded.|

No pics as of yet... still trying to decide how to go about it. I'm not going all out. Just need a lil more thump than the little Pyramid can provide. And since I've got my 11Kv.2's just laying around...they're gonna get put to good use.
Main concerns are amp mounting...I'm probably going to mount it to the box so that if I choose to remove the rear seat, it won't leave my amp out in the open...especially since I'd like to bring my dog to work with me more often this year since I may be working 50-60+ hr weeks, 7 days a week (I work on a farm). Also gotta figure out whether I'm going to forward or rear fire the subs. Would prefer to rear fire, but due to the way I think I'll be mounting my amp, I think it'll be easier to wire up by forward firing them.

I caved in...music is my life. Always has been...but when I'm depressed or have a lot on my mind, it's my escape. Lately I've had a LOT on my mind...and I've been finding a lot of great dubstep/chillstep or whatever step. Stuff high in bass without a huge drop, screeches, and wobbles. However...my stock sound system in my Jeep with the Pyramid 6 1/2" sub in the center console just can't reproduce the sounds in the songs properly.
Sooooooo...yesterday I started building a new box. Got it 70% constructed but didn't have any Liquid Nails or a caulking gun available to seal the seams. Today I picked up the rest of the stuff I needed and finished the main construction.
I originally was going to undercoat it...but that stuff goes on too thin...so I'm going to bedline it. I built a 1.05 cu. ft. box to hold my 2 Elemental Designs 10's. Also cut out a board that will attach to the box as a cover and will bedline it as well. All this will be located behind my rear seat. As mentioned in another sub thread recently, I made the mistake of doing a sub build that involved the removal of my rear seat...which was all fine and dandy until I started dating a girl with a kid. Then the system came out in order to replace my seat. Not making that mistake again...especially since I'm still on really good terms with an ex who also has a kid...and if we choose to try again, I'll need that seat available!
I just picked up an amp...I didn't wanna go all out on this build since it's going in a Jeep which is driven topless quite often in the summer months. I found a HiFonics 1000w amp on Amazon for $128 shipped and it had 21 reviews...all but 1 were 5 stars (the 1 was a 4 star rating due to slow shipping). I figure that's good enough for me. I was looking at the Crunch Amps...but they seemed to be hit or miss. I paid the extra $30-50 for a better amp. Also got my amp wiring kit order (4 gauge from KnuKonceptz). Hopefully I'll get the box finished up tomorrow or early next week and can have the system installed and tuned by next weekend.
Total money invested in this project though...under $200.
