|JimN||@Rubicon06VA - that picture is from Jim2...I'm JimN, but thank you, and no worries!! Anyway, found a local UHaul store that had the hitch in stock, installed Saturday. 4WheelParts had the wiring harness in stock, installed last night. Both were simple, although the hitch needed a little coaxing around the frame. Thanks, everyone. I'll be heading to the lake house soon and check that everything works. Primarily will be used for a double SeaDoo trailer for putting in/taking out of the lake. Fortunately the ramp is on my property, but with a 6-spd manual, I'm hoping I have a REALLY good emergency brake!|

I also had the same issue, was told there wasn't a trailer hitch available for the SS model but i went on hitchweb.com and found a Curt trailer hitch. Its a 2" receiver, no drilling required and it was free shipping since its over 100.00

I just bought & installed the Curt Hitch Receiver for my 2006 LJ. It was a straight forward bolt on install. 2 lower bolts into the bumper, replacing the OEM bolts & reusing the captive nuts inside the bumper; & 2 bolts into the side of the frame, using existing holes & hold in place nuts inserted thru nearby hole.
Also, the Curt T connection wiring kit made the electrical a plug n play install.

|Kilroy||I have a bolt on hitch that works great for towing, but it does occasionally drag when offroad. I will use a receiver/bumper next time.|

Thanks for the pix and all the recommendations!! Looks good. Yeah, I felt like it should be a straight bolt-on, but a catalog and a couple websites I reviewed indicated drilling may be required on an Unlimited. Didn't make sense to me, but...
Also, wiring harness was pretty much a plug in? Any splicing?

|Phillips57||Here's a couple pictures of my hidden hitch with stock bumper on my '06 TJ unlimited. It works great. I mainly use to tow my 8' enclosed trailer. Sorry about the awkward angle of the one photo|

|LJDan||I just put a Curt class III on my 06 LJ. Bolted right up to holes already in the frame. 2 bolts used the lower bumper bolts and the other 2 used holes on the outer sides of the frame that you use "handle nuts" to attach. No drill and very easy to install.|

If you wouldn't mind, that would be great!! I have original bumper and not really looking to replace. Thanks!

|Kevbz||i like the hidden hitch or draw tight class III hitches. they bolt to the frame and do not use the bumper as an attachment point. there are holes in the frame for this purpose and no drilling is required|

Trailer Hitch for 06 LJ?
Was curious if anyone had suggestions on a bolt on trailer hitch for a 2006 Unlimited. Would prefer not to drill, but can/will if necessary. Should I go with a replacement bumper that has hitch included? My Jeep is mainly stock, and will occasionally be used to pull a double Sea-Doo trailer. 6-spd manual tranny. THanks!
