Finally found the right one! I got it from cobratransmission.com
Their part number for the seal was 361071. It cost me $7.99 + shipping.

|88witha96||I am going through the exact same scenario. I am going nuts trying to find this seal. I have been to six auto part stores and have plans to visit the dealer next. Did you ever find the correct part number for the seal?|

|stalin440||yea, i had tried ordering it as a cherokee also, and about every other jeep vehicle from that carries that case. i might get lucky and this cross reference might work (waiting for a call back). i just find it odd, that everyone's computers say to use the wrong seal. there's just no way it will work. i actually argued with the guy at the jeep dealership, and six other auto parts stores.|

|jpdocdave||i've run in to this a lot, cross refferencing that number works sometimes, but not always definate. for some reason they aren't as easy to get all the time. i've double checked parts guys, and they've looked everything up right, and its just not right in the computer. BUT, a good parts guy can almost always find the right seal if you bring the original in.|

transfer case output seal
ok, i'll try not to confuse everyone to bad. i got a 97 tj sport with a tranfer case that is an np 231j (thats on the id tag). i was in an accident that cracked the case so i have a donor t-case from a 97 cherokee sport. same i d tag also. i go to buy an out put seal and all the auto places, including a jeep dealership sell me a seal thats to small of an outer diameter and to big of an inner diameter for the shaft. their part number is 4370. and nothing fits. the original seal i have has 2 numbers on it. (uh0950e and 19129) i found a small company that came up with the 19129 as a reference number for an out put seal of an np 242. they did not have the seal in stock so i could not compare. i'm sure both my t-cases are np 231j by the id tags and physical appearance. i just don't know how i can end up with 2 identical t-cases and no one, not even the jeep dealership can get the correct seal. anyone have a similar problem like this?
