rebelBullDawg325 i did mine while i had the dash out already. but i've always wondered. has anyone ever modded the dash so that the speakers can be removed either from the front, or so the hardware goes on from the front (front facing studs) or anything similar?

0III0forlife I just did my dash speakers tonight, for the passenger side i removed the glove box and grab handle assembly(there are 4 nuts that hold the grab handle in the steel of the dash which are accessable after you take the glove box out) then the whole panel comes off and the speaker is right there. As for the drivers side, its a bit more complicated. After taking the dash panel off from around the steering column, I removed the tach and unplugged it from the harness. then i removed the 3 torx head bolts that hold the steel dash to the A pillar. This allows you to get at the top left nut on the speaker. You can reach in thru the hole where the tach was to get at the 2 inside bolts. I replaced these stock speakers with Bose 4x6 speakers, 200 watts. Purhcased from wal-mart for $28. These speakers bolt right in and will also accept the stock wiring harness plugs if you are going that route. Hope this helps. As far as the 4" in the doors, take your inner panel off and watch the window when you roll it down, in order to clear that bottom channel for the window when its all the way down, the speaker has to be mounted in the lowest part of the door.(unless you have half doors without glass windows) and i felt that the speaker would be receiving too much abuse in that low mounting. Just my thoughts on the subject. Happy wheelin!

Fishnhuntforever If you change the speakers in the dash buy some wing nuts and it will be easier to reinstall and remove later.

jfbilbro the manual says to take the ebrake assembly out.....or you can take the dash loose and pull it towards the seats about 8-10inches and get to the driver side speaker.....

Master4th I have my dash out of the vehicle right now, im going to mod the speaker area for 5 1/4 and Tweeters while its out. The biggest pain is getting those little nuts back on the bolts. Oh and not punching a whole in your speaker with one of the bolts.

olbaid_83 that or you can get the speaker pod to put 2 5 1/4" speakers on the floor in front of your shifters. like this one

brentd711 Removing the parking brake assembly will give you a fair amount of room.

bmac6324 I was thinkin of replacing the dash ones as well but since the cross tones with music it was worthless due to the dash blocks the speakers a great deal. I decided to put new ones into my doors so you get the full effect from both sides not just a one sided tone. Hope this kinda helps you out

Any trick to dash speakers

I pulled and replaced the passenger dash speaker with great aggravation due to the small space. But I don't see any way to remove the driver side without completely removing the dash. Any advice would be great. Thanks
