smccollamjr Just get an Aussie or lock rite for now if it's going to be a while before you can re gear. You can sell for close to what you paid for it when you do the gears and full case locker.

Cons_Table I cant remember what the cut off is for sure...but here are some things to think about

If you are thinking about a full case locker (ARB, Detroit, OX, etc) you are gonna wanna pay someone to install them, due to dealing with re-setting the gears. You pay $250 (est.) in labor to get your locker installed ($500 in labor if you do both axles at the same time). Now...6 months...a year...down the road you are ready for new gears. On top of the cost of your gears, install kits, now have another $500 in labor that you have to pay again. If you do it all at once, most people will charge you the same labor as doing one or the other. Just something to consider, but as far as the cutoff...I honestly cant remember so i cant answer your specific locker question.

If you can save the money and do it all in one shot, it will save you some bills in the long run.

Lockers or Gears

I have a 2000 with 33's and D44 with 3:73 gears. One of the first things I wanted to get was a locker in the rear. From what I read 3:73 is the cut off point for lockers. At this point I'm happy with the gearing, it pulls fine in the hills even pulling my little aluminum boat.

I've done a little off roading but not a lot in the wrangler yet. But I'm planning on hitting some good trails. I had a CJ5 for about 6 or 7 years and hit the trails a lot in it. I want to hit the old washed out mining roads and the Rubicon again.

The question is if I get a locker now will I be sorry I didn't re-gear first? I really can't afford both for quite a while so for now its one or the other and I would hate to have to buy another locker if I re-geared.

Looking for some opinions
