89 strangler Well i have an '89 and mine has a "emissions" light.I don't know about yours but mine you cannot re-set the light.Look down by your feet at the bottom of the steering column there might be a small clear box with a circuit board and a bunch of plastic cogs in it.It is held on by 2 small screws. That is an emissions timer. If you just want the light to go out, unplug the two prong connector going into it.Or if you want to spend some money you can buy a new one.About 45.00 bucks.

jeeperman There is a really kewl maintenance required light (or at least there was on my 1991) that comes on at a certain mileage for some sort of service (don't know what, I just always did the normal maintenance). If it really bothers you (and isn't throwing codes), try unplugging the battery overnight, and that should reset it, if I remember right. I am sure someone else will know more about this than I.

service light

there must be a reason your light is staying on. when you plug it in does any other codes come up? just because you replaced the o2 sensor does not mean that the new o2 sensor is bad to. I have seen that happen before it is a good idea to stick with a bosch brand sensor than other less expensive brands. Or take a very very small drill bit and drill through into the check engine bulb that works to.(only kidding) good luck.

tet1070 I see that you got the same response that I always get. I keep asking the same question and usually get no answers either.

How do you reset the maintenance required light?

The "Maintenance Required" light just went on my '92 Wrangler at 82,500 miles and according to the maintenace schedule it's time to change my oxygen sensor. Well, the Jeep is running just fine so how do I turn the warning light off? I disconnected the negative cable on the battery for about 30 minutes and it still stays on. Any suggestions? Thanks!
