Garyk If you do decide to bring it to a shop, make sure the price includes replacing any bolts they snap and what they will do to get them out....

blazerone22 Its pretty easy... figuring out how to loosen the belts was the hardest for me... I did have a rear stud that was broken on it when I bought it that was kinda fun to get out... but as long as everything is warm and lubed up it should be pretty straight forward... get a haynes manual for torque values and torquing pattern... I think its only like 25 lbs... swivel sockets help also...

crtaylor start the engine first get it hot.they should come right out.
cast iron heads are way more forgiving.I have had to about 10 mainifolds on these old jeeps and havent had a broken bolt yet. find a can of aerokroil its the best penatrating oil Ive ever seen.expensive ,worth every penny.

1992 YJ manifold bolts are heck to get out, if a shop has a good price i'd let them deal with it!

Sandstorm95 ahh thank you. My dads friend said to be careful with the manifold bolts, that deff sounds like an issue i would like to avoid!

Johnny Ray Just replaced my stock manifold with a cheapo pacesetter header, not that big a deal. Just be forewarned to use lots of penetrating fluid on the manifold bolts, very problematic if you break one. My exhaust pipe lengths forward of the muffler had to be changed @ the muffler shop for less than a $100.
Man was that thing obnoxious driving open header to the muffler shop!

Exhaust manifold install help 2.5L

My stock header cracked on my 95YJ 2.5L I4, so I am planning on buying a Banks aftermarket header from Quadratec. Has anyone installed a manifold before, should i do it myself or bring it to a shop? and if i bring it to a shop should i bring it to a motor place or a muffler place?
