scotiez I started to sand them down this morning. As i was sanding, everyplace i went on the nerf bars there was rust, even under the paint. So i decided to take them off. What a pain in the behind to get off. I spent about 4 hours getting them off. I'm glad i did it though. I think the jeep looks alot better with out them.

G54 Mine had chrome ones on when I bought it - took them off the next day. (Cuz it was snowing pretty hard the day I bought it.) I've been trying to sell them to no avail, I finally put them out in the front yard with a "free" sign and my neighbor took them. He is going to try to make them fit his Ram.

Hope he's got some fabrication skills.

richp The trails are littered with those round nerf bars, I kind of considered them 'chrome tree roots'...

USBrit I bought a pair of rocker guards from Jeepparts-R-us this year and I am pretty happy with them; I paid $225 for them shipped. The only problem so far is that the self-tapping bolts that came with them were crap; the heads snapped off like bullets within 24 hours and I was lucky not to have one of the bars fall off. I purchased some new bolts from a local supplier and I have had no problems with them. The guards have an abrasive finish which is non-slip; they are heavy 2” tubular steel and the welds look ok. The importers are Rampage Products based in California. They also make good-looking front and rear bumpers that match and are a really low price.

4Jeepn Ditch the nurf bars and get rocker guards of some type..that wrap under the body. Not sure if the bushies do that or not. Shrockworks make some nice ones as a referance for ya.

Nerf Bars

Hey everyone. When i bought my jeep last December it came with Nerf bars on it already. Over the winter they are rusting up pretty badly. My question is, should i sand them down and paint them, or should i just remove them? I'm not really sure if i like them or not. What do you all think?

I do have some bushwacker rocker panels, and bushwacker trail armor front corner guards to put on. I also have some black powder coat rear end gate hinges to put on. I think it would look pretty good with all my goodies put on.
