This is just my opinion... so take it as such.
Being from Arizona, you have some dandy Jeeping not far from you anywhere in your state. I have that problem too. Grand Junction is 100 miles from Moab, Ouray, and central Colorado. Wheeling heaven.
Even though I love my '06 Rubicon that is very built-up, if I were you I would seriously look at a JK Rubicon. The stock JK Rubicon is a VERY good rig without any mods. They are much better than the TJs.
Most of the difference is in the mid-length control arms. They are like adding a long-arm to a TJ. I wish I had waited a year before spending all the money I did on Happy Trails.
Before you add any lifts and bigger tires to your JK (if you get one), add a winch to it. It will help you out of what you get into.

|cubalz||I sold my 97 2.5L TJ and bought a Rubicon. Best idea I ever had IMO. There are Jeeps and there are Rubicons.|

|Daswrangler||Well I held off had my mechanic go through it and said it had almost no compression in the #5 cylinder and I also noticed a large amount of rust on the frame behind the rear wheels. Thanks for the heads up guys.|

Well it's set up to be towed, maybe behind a motor home?
Could be my worn out brain, but I don't remember the Rubi coming with running boards, I guess PO's could have added em. Hopefully not the decals too. So probably it's not been abused looking at the rest of it.
Only other thing that scares me is the part "SOLD AS IS, NO WARRANTY"
Like said unless you can have it gone over completely FIRST, I would not try and buy it.
Our 97 bought used last year came with a full 90 day, anything goes wrong warranty.

read up on 2005 2006 opda--just so you know, easy just google or search here
take it in the dirt and check front and rear locker operation and lights
have a mechanic\alignment shop check ball joints
look for leaking front axle seals

Upgrading to a rubi
Ive been looking to upgrade from my 97 2.5. I found this and they are going to give me 4500 for my jeep and I would then take on payments for this rubicon.
Is there anything I should be weary of before making the purchase?
