Oh yeah. Ive been all through that page. They have one huge ass map on PDF that shows all their campsites and trails and the like. The map Ive been referencing for primary and secondary type roads is this guy

|Darkstar11||I grew up in central Maine and we had 2 hunting camps up on Ragged Lake, about 5 miles or so from Sias Hill. I've been all over the place up there from Ragged to Northeast Carry (sp?) on sleds and in vehicles. Some of the secondary roads will be passable for the Honda Pilot but some will most definitely not be. On some old logging roads like the Fisher Pond Road I've gotten a 79 Dodge with mudders stuck in the spring time. Just as an aside my grandparents used to work the Telos, Sias Hill and 20 Mile gates when all the land up there was owned by Great Northern.|

|R4D4R||Nice. Thats what I was assuming. All the roads shown as "primary" ish, ie, the darkest lines are probably normal dirt, forest roads. Anything branching off would be dubious at best. Im willing to bet Pilot dude wont come anyway, so this may be just a thread to say how awesome my trip is going to be|

How many A level type roads are there up there? Just the two? The pdf map I got from the Maine North Woods org shows the roads we plan on covering as their primary roads, but who knows what that means. My Gazetteer isnt very helpful in that one area and the ol Google Maps street level only goes up Telos road. Yeah, "only". The Google map car drove all the way up in the middle of the woods. How crazy is that?
Anyway, the plan is to come up from the other side. We are planning on rafting from the 20 Mile checkpoint one day then drive up to the woods in a route like this:

There are a couple of camp sites on this route we can stay at on the way if we get too far behind, but the general area we want to base out of is at the end point here.

|GREEN-MACHINE||if your going into the golden road at lake Millenocket, park the pilot in the parking lot where the sea planes are, other wise you'll be draging him out. some of those roads off the G-rd are good for a mile or 2 then get nasty as in real nasty, ( thats the main reason i got my winch ) even that toyota my have an issue or 2 if hes not locked at one end,,, have fun. post pictures|

Anyone been to Allagash area in Maine?
Im planning a trip up that way this summer. The plan is to take my JK with two guys (me +1) and another dude with his Tundra (him +1 more). Two more dudes are thinking of coming but the one dude drives a Honda Pilot (the other a car, so thats really out). Ive been in the area before, if anyone has been up towards Millenocket/Greenville, Ive been down Golden Rd and a bit of Telos Rd up north, but nothing further off the beaten path than that. If those two can be considered A roads, how bad are the B roads? I know the A type roads are easily traveled with a regular car, but how bout the roads deeper in? Basically, can homeboy #3's Honda Pilot make it to Allagash Lake without losing an oil pan or exhaust? If not, well, F him, pile the two of them into the JKU and Tundy or get a real truck.
