Triple88a i'd take a d44 with 3.07 gears any day vs my d35 with 3.73s lol

KicknJeep D35, 5 speed with 3.73's but a 44 with 3.73's would have been lots better.

black71gp ya mine is made like 09-96.. so stuck with the dumb 3.07s

AzTJ 3.73's were only optional on late model '97 TJ with D44's... and optional with 98 TJ's... it an equal possibility one way or the other for him.

Triple88a my 00 has the 3.73

4point Maybe it was the 96 sport with a 5 speed had 3:73's.

nicolas-eric my old 1999 5spd sport also had 3.07 gears.

Triple88a you're one of the unlucky ones. most 5 speed sports have 3.73

AzTJ Put your transfer case in neutral, jack up the rear, and spin a tire. Count how many times the driveshaft makes a rotation for each tire rotation.

If you sping the tire one rotation and the driveshaft turns almost 4 complete times, you have 3.73's.

Triple88a Check the rear diff for a metal army looking tag. It should say on there. Its usually on the left side of the diff mounted on the bolts that hold the cover.

If its a manual sport there is a very good chance of you having the 3.73

How can I tell what gears I have?

I have a stock TJ sport with the Dana 35 rear. How can I figure out whether I have 3.07 or 3.73 gears or something else? I've read that there are two different cases (low or high) for the 30 and 35, and this limits what gears can be used in that case.

Thanks.
