Michigunman OK, here is one more, likely earlier in the day from the above pic. Checking for damage after Dad's Cherokee was pulled out by the Cherokee Chief after falling in the rut. For the record I'm the skinny 17 year old with the black hat behind my Dad's silver Cherokee .

And to keep it semi Wrangler related my second CJ-5 before I owned it. (the one in my avatar)

Michigunman Yeah, I will participate. I need to dig up more photos though. Here is one of my Dad, miss him. Proud of his 1976 Cherokee. The CJ-5 to the right of it was my brothers and would eventually become my second Jeep. This was at Ohio Power Company, strip mined land opened up for camping, wheeling, fishing etc... South of Zanesville, Oh circa ... 1977 ????

Beastmaster Well, I guess I can srart.

I don't have any pictures of the original but my first Jeep was a white 1959 Willys Jeep Station Wagon. I bought it at age 16 for a whopping $500.
It had a 3-speed shifter on the steering column and had an engine upgrade and was running with a straight-6 1964 Ford Falcon engine. Being it started life with a 4 banger, the firewall had to be cut out and a piece of molded fiberglass had to be formed to make a bulge to accommodate the longer engine.
Being the safety conscious individual I am, I installed turn signals (there were none yet) as well as seat belts that were options when it rolled off the line in the 50s.
The Jeep and really "been rode hard and put away wet" by the previous owner so as a new mechanic I had my hands full. Between replacing the interior, reupholstering the seats and maintenance on the engine, axles and exhaust system, I received quite and education. When my clutch went out, I couldn't afford to replace it so I drove it without a clutch for 6 months by shifting by ear.
And you know what, I wouldn't change a busted-knuckle, empty-the-wallet, broken-down-on-the-road memory for anything in the world.

Mods: Please move this if it's not in the appropriate place.

I just read this in the "Too Old For a Jeep Thread", posted by Frisco Rubi:

When the wife and I started having a harder time getting in and out of it, we bought an 05 Rubi new in Oct of 04. Been adding lots if mods to it, still not done, got a couple more I want to do. Taking it to EJS in Moab next week, our sixth one. Just passed my 3rd class flight physical and Bi-Annual flight review and renewed my CDL class A drivers license. Still driving large tow trucks when my son's need me and flying planes. Might croak tomorrow, knowing I didn't do it sitting on the front porch in my rocking chair. There are a lot of guys here that have had Jeeps for decades and I'd love to see some pics of guys with their Jeeps "Back When", and hear the stories that go along with them. Maybe even some "Then and Now" photos.

Any takers?
