VoodooShot I've sent them pics and videos . To show its not me .
Had this issue with smittybilt , they sent new product saying other was defective .

armygreen are you getting a return and refund on it? that's all i can say i would do,
it's understandable the mfr of jeep changed things and the mfr of the box understandbly wasn't aware,

but trying to make it work in a hack method i don't think i would on a seat or anything to do with operating the vehicle, for safety reasons.
but i'd expect a refund and that's all i'd ask of them, they should be willing to do that once you showed it was a product issue not the install/installer.

opcocrg raising the seat may be "a" solution but I don't think it's the "right" solution. If you purchased the correct product that they advertised would fit your vehicles year and make then Tuffy should be making it right by either sending you a different/correct product that works or sending you a refund. I wouldn't want to make modifications to my seat height if it wasn't a modification that they disclosed in the products description.........but I'm tall and need all the head room I can get so I'm a little biased.

VoodooShot Well I really didn't think about raising the front also . I got a Spiderwebshade and about 2 inches of room before my head rubs that .

Can't believe I didnt think about that .

Company designs product. Product fits some range of models, but not the others...but they don't know it, because they didn't test thoroughly....they just rushed the product to market. So they just list it for all the vehicles that share the same body style. They print out a bunch of labels for the boxes and send out the literature to third party resellers.

Third party reseller doesn't update their specs, and it's sometimes entered wrong anyway. The box labels aren't changed, and stuff can sit in inventory for quite a while before being sold. Worse yet, sometimes the company doesn't even care if their labels or products are wrong and don't fit...and many times they're not even willing to work with you to determine the problem or resolve it.

Welcome to the aftermarket parts world.
Yup...in fact, I ran into this problem with the Bestop version of the lockbox. They have been working on them...but I gave up and just bought a lockbox that attaches to the seat bracket using aircraft cable. Can't get any more universal than that. lol

Also ran into that issue with the Novak cable shifter, but Novak proved why they're such a great company and took the time to work with me until I got it to work.

The guy on phone was nice offered to ship spacers ( to raise my seat in rear ) got ahold of the actual person that designed it .
He also tried to get them to fab new bracket , he was told no .
I like tuffy , just not sure why it don't work .

duh....raise the front too then.

Basically lift the whole seat up 1", with 1" seat spacers. Do NOT use hockey pucks. or buy a welder and some steel, and make your own bracket.

s3nt3nc3d I would try to exchange it...in case they sent you the wrong one or put the wrong one in the box when boxing em up.

VoodooShot Update .
Got an email back finally from the guy that designed it .
Stating if the rear bracket does not go high enough then its not meant for my year jeep .
Odd it says it is .
I offered to pay for a new bracket 1" higher . They said no .
I don't know how to fab or have tools .
Suppose I can get the one from bestop .
It's smaller ;(

That's how I got it now . It's not level , anything I put in it ends up at the back after driving .

Everything I've bought for this jeep has not fit ;( .
I just ordered the spiderwebcage 200$ in trail mesh . If that don't fit I'm raffling my jeep off and getting my YJ back .

Brighter note Tuffy said they would help me get it right . Spacers , higher bracket , they claim they will solve this . Just gotta wait till Monday .
Suppose I'll see who has better customer service Smittybilt or Tuffy .

Doing that will cause the seat to sit up higher than it is supposed to. The seat bracket needs to sit on top of the drawer brackets.

VoodooShot Driver side , pics are right . Im showing the back where it has the issue .
I'm standing outside the door and the seat has to be out .
I have it in kinda. It angles down to much , not level at all .
03-23-2012 08:13 PM
my98tj Are the pics backward or do you have it under the passenger seat?
03-23-2012 07:18 PM
VoodooShot I'm just having the worst luck with anything after market on this jeep .

I can get most of it aligned it's not level .
The drawer is higher in the front by more than inch .
I thought this would sit on the mound flat .

So driving down the road everything would shift to the back fast .

I got to be missing something , even the tech couldn't understand .

Tuffy conceal drawer doesnt fit pics

1999 tj sport. , non tilt seat .

The rear mount is way to low for the hump . Or am I missing something , tuffy looked at pics and said they would research and call me back Monday .

I tried washers. Yet that raised the back of my seat up too high .
It's about 1 to 1.5 inch gap .

This model is for 1997 to 2006 no flip seat . Instructions only ahoy 2003-2006
Yet give reference to 1997 -2002 .
