STREETRANGER Ok, I am going to get the Hella E-Codes for sure. I will see where I can get them cheapest. As far as DDM it is a Chinese kit and the other HID Forums say you should consider German or Japanese kits, but I guess I will take a chance since so many of you like them.

doolyd Williamson County is a completely different world. They are the most corrupt law enforcement in the nation. You can find plenty of fact to base this on.

My advice...move out of that county as fast as possible. The rest of Texas ROCKS...except the border area.

The 02-06 Escalade and the Older ML55.

When you Use a Reflector Based HID, the Lens & Reflector is Designed for the HID Bulb and Brightness.

Put the Halogen and HID Headlamp Versions of both Trucks Listed Above, and the Lens & Reflector WILL be Different.

lindel And what, exactly, does any of this have to do with the OP's question? If they're aimed correctly, they're legal.

Show me an earlier, non projector HID on an SUV type vehicle, something where the headlights are more than a couple feet off the ground.

The earlier HID lamps weren't projector style, and again, were no problem. Very expensive to fix, but no issue if they were aimed correctly.

Neil F. 275 is high. Hella/DDM will cost you around 150 to your door and is easy to install. They will not blind anyone if aimed properly

If you live in Williamson County, you would understand for sure about the Police thing. Dell headquarters is here and we have a very strong Police presence. I know in the Kyle/Buda area South of Austin you WILL get pulled over for HID's but not given a ticket, they use it as a reason to check you out. I am hearing there are conflicting laws on the books that say you are in violation by not having DOT approved headlights, yet you can pass a state inspection with them. It is kind of like being pulled over for a state or federal crime at the local police level.

The main thing I don't want to do is blind oncoming traffic. I am wanting to get Hella E-Codes and the DDM kit but I see alot of people arguing over rather or not it actually does or doesn't blind oncoming traffic, so I was hoping I could find a straight answer. I found a place locally that will sell me a set of Blaze HID'S with a lifetime warranty installed for 275.00, so I am going to check them out but I think this is something I may want to do myself. I don't know if 275.00 is high or not because I do not know what the kit includes, and I have never heard of Blaze as a HID vendor.

BMW (and other makes) come from the factory with HID lights. If you're using HID lamps, and they're aimed correctly, you should be ok.

Yes, but those HIDs are in projectors which control the light much more tightly than a H4 housing.

willybTJ I've bought the same as Neil above, actually he may have pointed me to my setup...thanks; DDM Tuning 6K with Hella Ecode...haven't installed yet though.

When I was buying the Ecode housings at the local 4wd shop I asked the guy about possibly getting stopped (DFW Area), and he said with those housings & adjusting the lights correctly against a wall I would be good to go.

Neil F. I love my HIDs. I have not been flashed in almost 3 years. Hella Ecode and DDM 6K (very white and not blue)

Duramaxxed Go with 4300k or 6000k. Anything Higher and you'll Look like a Circus going Down the Road. Stick with 35w Kits unless you enjoy Blinding People.

Make sure to Use E-Code Lamps and not that "Diamond" or "Crystal" Crap.

HID Light Kit for Texas Drivers (Advice)

Hello,

For those of you that don't know Texas is sort of a Police state and I am looking to see if any of you TJ Owners in Texas are getting pulled over because of your lights.

I am going to put a kit on my 2000 Jeep Wrangler and wanted to know what kit you guys are using. I am looking for an affordable kit that has good control over the effect it has with oncoming traffic. I have read this and other forums until my eyes are bleeding and I don't really see a clear winner among the favorites.

So if you have a TJ with a HID kit, would you buy the same one again, or do something different? Keep in mind I want a good quality kit that will give me the ability to control how it effects oncoming traffic, and I am looking for it to be as plug and play as possible.

I understand this is a common thread question but am hoping some Texas drivers or anyone who has had to deal with law enforcement over their lights can offer any advice.

I'll check back, heading out to the Texas Rangers game with the top off!
