never had a problem. I air down to about 14 lbs.

You had asked about a rack for your surf-rods.
Quadratec sells a trick out fit made of aluminium that fits a receiver hitch.
Go online and search for it. It's usually in all their catalogs too.

In the early 70's I had a Chevy short WB Carryall that had what we called sand tires back then. They were just wide (10" or so) smooth tires (6 ply nylon), no tread to speak of, they did have 3 grooves that went around the tread at third points, that made them DOT legal back in the day, we ran those at 10 - 15 psi.
So I my stock Jeep has 29 x 9.50 x 15, I can go to 30 x 10.50 - 15 without lift and to run them at 5 - 10 psi. I was thinking of going with BFG's.

|TjWranglerMan||Over here in Cali I for to Pismo beach all the time and I air down to about 8psi works good for me and I have 32/11.5 BFG mud terrains iv seen people go to 5psi depends on how much tread you have and how compact the sand is|

Stick with an all-terrain tread in a wider than stock size. Go as wide as you can fit and keep the pressure low (10PSI or so).
I'd stick with a major tire manufacturer myself.
Whatever you do - Never drive into the water for kicks. That only looks cool in commercials. The saltwater gets into every nook and cranny, and despite your best efforts, will rot your jeep from the inside out in no time.

? about tires for sand use and fishing gear.
I purchased my TJ to use going down the beach to do some surf fishing on the eastern shore of VA.
I am looking for some advise on which tire (manufacture, style / type / tread pattern, etc.) you would recommend for this purpose.
Also is the rule of thumb still 12 - 15 psi while in the sand?
I am also looking for a rack for the front or back of the Jeep to haul my surf rods.
Any help is appreciated.............waiting for useful help
