I got my flares done today. Plasti dip for now. I eventually want to get wider flares but these will work for now. Before and after pics.

I just searched plasti dip rims and found this...seems to be the opposite of what you're telling the OP

Zombiekiller yes plasti dip works on the chrome. i think im going to try to sand blast the chrome off mine though, and then paint it with metal paint

Rockintheislander Ok so I did some research on plasti dip and it seems like a pretty popular product here on the forum. I think I will try it on my flares and possibly some other places on my jeep. I just hope its as durable as people say it is. What about my chrome grill? Would it work on there?

CaseAce000 That's a good choice, and you don't have to even spray over them if you don't like it just peel it off. Search for plasti dip rims on here and you'll see how it looks and holds up against the elements

Rockintheislander Thanks guys. I've never worked with plasti dip before and quite honestly don't know anything about it. I was kinda leaning towards spraying them with bed liner when I do the tub. I did the fenders on a racing 4 wheeler like that years ago and liked how it turned out. I think I'm gonna try the plasti dip and if I don't like it all I'll have to do is shoot bed liner over it. thanks for the help.

Jeeplover1 Bedliner only or krylon fusion

CaseAce000 Depending on the damage of the paint chipping, you may want to sand down your flares with a finer grit sand paper and then paint them.

You can aerosol can plasti dip your flares and not worry about sanding, priming, etc. e

Just clean them as best as you can (pressure washer, sponge and soap) then wipe dry.

Get a clean rag with some Isopropyl alcohol and wipe them over once to make sure there nice and clean. Tape off ALL AREAS NOT BEING PAINTED and spray with plasti dip (avaible in black, white, red, clear and i think yellow)

Plasti dip (found at lowes, home depot, ace hardware, and internet) dries flexible and wont chip or crack to the bending of the flares. best of all, if you mess up or what to go back to OG color, they peel right off with some tease and force.

New guy with a paint/fender flare question

I recently purchased a 92 Islander in the oh so pretty teal color...Anyways, I've already blown almost all my budget on new tires, rear corner covers (had a little damage that needed to be hidden), bikini top and channel, not to mention the cost of the jeep and tags/taxes. And I don't even want to talk about losing the rear driveshaft the day after I got it. The Islander came with the the fender flares painted body color, but my jeep has some paint chipping on both of the front flares. I want to take them off and paint all the flares black as my hard top and wheels are both black and I think it would look better. This will just be a temporary fix until I can save the money to get some aftermarket flares. Has anyone done this or have any pics of it done? thanks
