|Rejordan73||Sorry to bother again, but does anyone have instructions on how to replace the blinker lever on a 89 YJ?|

Does anyone know of a video or pic tutorial that shows how to remove the steering wheel to get to the blinker lever. I have the tool for the steering column, but can't seem to figure out how it works.
Thanks in advance

|Dlong||Just had mine replaced yesterday by local mechanic (I don't have a puller so I couldn't get the wheel off). Was about $120 installed. Kind of odd nobody I know had a puller?? One of those odd tools I guess.... And that is a sweet steering wheel!|

|whiteyj||Part of the problem might just be the interface between that wheel and the switch. But yeah, start with the horn button and work down. You might need a puller to get the mounting plate off.|

I replaced mine sometime ago when I jumped into the jeep as she started to roll back on a hill and snapped it off (I learned my parking break needed to be tighten that day)
Mine already had the left side of the steering column sighly exposed, so I just pulled the male part out of the turn signal female end and put the new one right back in. I did not replace anything inside the turn signal.
Depending on what steering wheel you have, its very easy to get inside the column. I have a GT Grant and you take off the horn cover by unscrewing it (left) and you'll expose a bolt and nut. lock the steering wheel and loosen the nut till it comes off, then the steering wheel will pop right off with some tension.
Now that your inside, you can play with all components and see if anything seems corroded or just worn down and replace them accordingly.
take some pics of your steering wheel and we'll try to walk you thru it more if you have any questions

|Bcoffin79||When I bought my 92 it was doing the same thing, one side would work and other wouldn't....I replaced the turn signal switch and canceling cam and it works fine now. Rip ur steering wheel off and see what ur canceling cam and switch look like..... If it looks like mice chewed he hell out of the plastic parts then it is prolly bad.|

|sevenservices||if you try the signal and get a steady on without flashing, its water in your light housings, or a bad bulb in either the front or back.|

|Peepers||You might have to replace the switch.|

Issues with lever that controls blinker and hi beams
I have a issues with the lever that controls the blinker and hi-beams on my 89 YJ. For some reason the blinker will not work for the left side of the car but it will work for the right side of the jeep. And the dash shows the right blinking and the left side does not. I checked all the lights on the left side of the can and they seem to be working.
I also noticed that I cannot enable the hi-beam, but the washer fluid works. Oh, I forgot to mention that when I turn on the wind shield wipers on, that they stop randomly and never on the starting point.
If you think that the lever is bad, does anyone know how to replace it? If you have have a video or tutorial that would be great.
Thanks in advance
