tarheel I had my Jeep 3 months before I noticed previous owner had pulled #4. Never really noticed dome light not working until I turned switch to brighten display and turned on dome light. Put the fuse back in for about 2 months and removed again when doors came off for a warm day. Hasn't been back in since.

Scout Why "buy" anything or "take xxx minutes to install" when you can pull a fuse in 20 seconds or less?

chiro2736 The way that I do it is...Take a paper clip and bend it, Slide it under the wedge on each Side of the light button, then it should hold, it does for me...I use a large office paper clip then it just slips right of and throw it out when you put the doors back on. The clips quadratec sell work as well, but I have heard of people closing the doors on them...ouch. Do what ever works for you!

I bought this. It took 5 minutes to install, and works perfectly. Sure, it's cheaper to pull the fuse, but this solves your problem with the flick of a switch. I personally find it very useful because my doors/hardtop go on and off a lot during the summer and this is just one less thing to worry about when making the switch...

MCG I unplugged the Fuse #4 and since I knew that I always push my light switch just in case.

tarheel Besides when you do it Trips way you still have the buzzer for the headlights and key in ignition...so you don't leave your lights on or keys in Jeep while at the mall

Triple88a I unplugged the button thing at the door.

Take a look at the front of the door and notice something that looks like a button. Press it the lights should go out. Put your hand behind the dash and pull it out. For the summer days I have that disconnected and when i need the interior lights on i just turn them on manually by turning the headlight light switch.

Interior Lights

I recently purchased an '04 Wrangler. I live in MN and the weather is finally warming up enough to be able to lower the top and take off the doors ( I have a soft top with half doors). My question is this......Is there any way to disable the interior lights? When you take the doors off, the Jeep just thinks that a door is open, so the interior lights (on the roll bar) remain on for 20 mintues before the automatically shut off. A buddy of mine has an '07 and he said his actually has an electrical plug on the door you can disconnect when removing the doors. I sent an email to Jeep asking them how to disable the lights on my '04 and they told me to take it to a dealer and have them dig into the electrics. Well, I figured I would just pop out the bulbs rather than spend $500 to $1000 at the dealer. Didn't they think people would take off the doors? Anybody know of a better way than popping the bulbs in and out all the time?
