terminator012 I do plan on doing the mml with the 4.25 combo. The Zone kit doesn't come with a transfer drop. I'm curious why because when I got my 3 inch lift from them it came with a 3/4 drop. I all ready had a JKS mml and body lift on mine. I did have to use the drop to get rid of my vibes. I'll probably talk to them about that.

RubiCobra For a DD and occasional trail duty, you're not planning on totally replacing your suspension linkage, and no SYE, I would get that thing back down to 3". The combo lift looks like a good option for you.

jrussblues The 4.25 would be better on driveline angles, you could possibly get away with adding a motor mount lift to eliminate the vibes and get the factory skid height back. It would also save the cost of a sye, rear drive shaft and rear adjustable upper control arms.

terminator012 Thanks for the replies. Yall have helped me make my mind up that I'm going to lower it some.

This will be my daughters daily driver in a couple months. She is frowning at lowering it but once the ride is a lot more comfy and stabil I think she will be happy with it.

I have the Zone 3" with 1.25 on mine and have been well pleased with the ride it gives me. I'm looking at either the Zone 4" with control arms.

Keeping in mind that this will mostly be a DD with occasion trail rides. Would the 4" give any more benefits over the 4.25. I have read that the bushings in these control arms are not great for wheelin but would they be beneficial for a DD. Any comments on the two would be appreciated.

I don't want to get into there are better lifts out there, I know that. Who knows how long we will have this Jeep. I just want to make better for a couple years.

I would call it massive. It's a piece of square tubing that measures 1 5/8 inches.
It runs the entire length of the transfer plate.

No SYE kit.

Imped Shocks that are too short, terribly steep control arm angles, and stiff arm ends all contribute to a lack of articulation. Going down will only help.

terminator012 That's one thing I noticed about this jeep. It really doesn't have any travel at all. I think that is one reason it rides so rough.

jrussblues Stability would be one part, another is functionality. After a certain flex point the stock lower control arms will bind on the axle in the front. 5-5.5" of lift at static height is already pretty close to that mark. In essence you would probably gain more flex out of lowering your springs because when on wheel travels up the other travels down. When it stops then the suspension binds and you are on 3 wheels.

jrussblues If its all stock (and you plan on keeping it that way) except the lift you will correct a lot of issues by getting the suspension down to around 3" max.

Any issues with de-lifting a little bit?

The 97 I bought appears to have either a 5 or 5.5 suspension lift on it. It has got stock control arms, driveshafts, tracbars, etc. It does have some bumpsteer and wonders a little going down the road. I ran what numbers I could find on the shocks and everything I googled came back to Rough Country. The shocks are rusty and as bumpy as this thing rides, the shocks must be gone and the springs have got to be super stiff.

I am thinking about putting a smaller lift on it. It will never see tires larger than the 33's it has on it now. I'm thinking maybe a 4" suspension or a 3 inch with mml, and a 1.25 body lift. I want to get some of these angles better.

Is there any problems that I don't know about that will come up from doing this. The thing don't handle terribly and it doesn't have DW. That's the one thing I don't want to give it. I'm still in the thinking stages so any suggestions will be given some thought.
