Pulled up this thread for some tips due to the trouble I am currently having taking the doors off of my 05 Wrangler. UGH! Can't get them off for s**t!
I don't think they were ever removed by the original owner.

The fuse operates the dome lights while door open, a buzzer for when door is open and keys in ignition, and a buzzer for when headlights are on and igntion is off/door open. At least that is what I discovered in my 98 the one time I put the fuse back in
Seatbelt buzzer is independent I think.

|Triple88a||Seat belt buzzer or dingger or whatever you'd like to call it. I believe that is connected to the same fuse (not sure though) Without a doubt Tobys switch he posted is the best alternative i can think off. I was planning on making something like that my self but just never bothered with it.|

|Triple88a||lol. I'm pretty anal when it comes to wires. For me everything has to be hidden.|

|tobycat1||Looks good installed. I prefer its look and ease over my best work. just my .02|

No where in the Jeep do they use switches like that. Seems like an ordinary switch from Radio Shack for 2.99.

|Triple88a||that works too. Or you can make one for 1/3rd the price|

|tobycat1||You can get a switch off of quadratec, I have one.|

|Triple88a||Keetz ...dimple hehe as for the interior lights.. all you gotta do is put your hand behind the dash where the button is and feel the wires. Grab it by the plug (not the wires) and pull it out. The lights wont go on anymore. This way you stil have the buzzer and everything else and when you need the interior lights, all you need to do is turn them on manually from the inside.|
|05-05-2008 11:44 PM|
|keetz02||don't forget to remove the fuse that controls the buttons that turn on the dome light when the door is open (guess you could tape them down), otherwise when you take off the doors the light will stay lit, not a big problem when driving around, but if you leave the doors off while the alternator is not running, it will eventually drain the battery... I have been wondering where that "dimple" on the drivers side came from!|

|wndrlst||It's tube doors for me, a bit of security, great visibility while wheeling, and a mirrow to stay legal.|

Soupy you got half doors or something? When i had my mirrors mounted on the doors they swung open all the way and hit the plastic flares on the bottom, not anything else.
I have full doors.
|04-26-2008 07:31 AM|
By the way, ....regarding the dimples that the door mirror will put on the side edge of the hood if you let them swing wide......
I tried to remember NOT to let the doors swing, but even my best intentions and efforts didn't stop it from happening the other day, on the passenger side....
So I decided that I'd let the DRIVER'S side door swing wide and make a "dimple" so I'd at least have a matched set, and perhaps unknowing individuals would think the vehicle CAME that way!! (lol) (with "dimples")

Always have to work my doors open and closed while applying upwards pressure. My door nuts go in the toolbox until I sell the Jeep on each one.
For those that are just simply anal about the paint on the nuts, theres this:

|solo97tj||WOW thanks for all the good advice!! i will try to wiggle the door i have no problem with a little motivation i just wanted to make sure i knew how everything works before i bring out the rubber mallet and really screw some thing up that i didn't know how it works first i will keep you up dated!!|
|04-25-2008 07:04 PM|
|Triple88a||I took off the nuts but have not cut the threaded part off since it makes putting the doors back on easier.|

|jpoutlaw||It's a little rough the first time but after the first time, they slide in and out a whole lot easier. Less screaming and a lot easier!!!|

I bought my 05 last year and the previous owner obviously never took them off before.
It was a big pain in the ass. Just use lithium grease on the pins and work it hard. It still might take a while though.

turn the jeep upside down and pound the bottom of the doors with a hammer. or go to the gym
seriously, you may need to wiggle the door back and forth as you pull up
