Don't worry about people not being able to use crank windows.
Have fun watching people look for the window switch control. They never can find them in the middle of the dash. I had a 1992 Camarro that had the window switches in the center console, so I found them quickly.
Also with a Wrangler you can have 2 sets of doors. One manual (zipper or crank) and the other power. One set for the country girl friend who likes mudding, the other for the city girl you are taking to the opera. The third option is no doors for the one who likes going naked (jeep of course).

|tommyjeep||hmmm...trash talk about hand cranks would suggest you have windows..and doors to roll them up from? Nope! never had that complaint. All those doors, windows, tops make it hard to execute an 'over the top' jeep wave :-)|

When we were first shopping for a jeep for me, I wanted an older 2 door with manual everything, but it wasn't meant to be my primary mode of transportation. Instead, we traded in the minivan for my 4 door and I love all the "extras" that came with it.

As for power windows/locks, I could definitely reach across the vehicle to crank down a pair of windows and press down some locks, and while it wouldn't really bother me per se, I do like having at least a few simple comforts built into my $35,000 vehicle.
FWIW, I don't plan on finding myself in any situation where I'm getting mud into the window motors, and even if I did plan on it, I'd be hard-pressed to find somewhere where it'd be possible.

|Coach||My friends are usually too busy trying to figure out where the doors are to worry about the hand cranked windows.|

Meh, my TJ didn't have power windows/locks. Both our JKU's do. Wasn't really something we looked for, but I wasn't being specific on color for both and that's what the dealers found.
Now being military I'm gonna admit, coming through that gate on base on a daily basis is not nearly as annoying when you can just push a button instead of unzip or roll a window down. Then again most people don't roll their window down as much as we do I'm thinking or I wouldn't have to get driver side windows replaced here every couple years due to grooves being worn from all the up and down. (Sand in the seal I'm assuming)

having no power windows about basics?
Hey...if you buy a 2012 Wrangler...like mine...ordering it with NO power windows has near zero effect on basics and reliability...
ALL new Wranglers have the same 'computer controlled' drivetrain...
Power windows are relatively crude electrical devices compared to the rest of the stuff...
So, claiming to go 'basic' with no power windows?...Keep dreaming...
EVERYTHING else is controlled by the computer...
It's NOT like the 'old days' when having power windows and locks was a technical tour-de-force...
Just my 3 cents worth...

|lindolyn13||We test drove a 2 dr with hand crank and my daughter did not know how to open the window, it was very funny... the hand cranks are usually very stiff at first so she had to put alot of "arm" into rolling down the window lol I should have video taped her. We ended up with a 4 dr and they come standard with power locks and windows as much as I would have loved the manual ones in the 4 dr. My husband made a comment about the A/C since it was the simplest fan and auto dial temp "no climate control" yeah right take the doors and top off theirs your climate control lol... He drives a chryslar 300 (loaded) and has decided that the Jeep is really his style and the 300 is my style, I told him he could have his luxuary car any day I love my jeep!|

Power windows is essential in the JKU -- I like to roll all 4 windows down. With just the front 2, the breeze is kind of harsh. With all 4 down, it's really nice.
Is that power top a factory item? How much is it? I know there's an aftermarket one that's around $5K. Don't think I could ever pay that much when you can get a soft top for under $1K.

|wassup8687||When I started looking for a JK I was going to go with manual windows but that was in a 2door. I ended up with the 4 door and i'm glad I have power.|

It's nice that as a country we no longer consider power windows a luxury item...not just that, but we don't expect to hold the button down, either!
Plenty of folks would just as soon not spend that money, especially in places where people don't but their cars on credit.
Looking at someone willing to save money on a feature they don't want and giving them crap for it...might that be related to all the people in this country that buy far more than they can afford?
Yeah, why save money on power features when you can get those AND a set of dub-deuces for your 42 inch tires...all with a magic plastic card?!

|JeepHerz||Got my power window kit installed this weekend. Works great. Sounds like robocop is in my door. Not easy to install but primarily due to crappy instructions. $250. And came with quick disconnects so I can still get her naked.|

|Braveheart12JK||I love the Wrangler. This is my third Wrangler, previous two were TJs with no power. One had no AC either. My JK has power package and I love it! I hated having to key into the vehicle in the winter with icy locks. It's just more convenient with a key fob. As a poster said earlier, I would get a power top option if it were available too!|

My kids already knew how to work them as I replaced the VW power ones with crank ones from the junk yard after replacing 6 motors in 8 years and it only has 4 doors. Got good at replacing window motors though.

|Rick K||The power package came with my Liberty and I like it just fine. But when I looked around to buy a Wrangler the only Rubicon I could find without the power package was 75 miles away. So I drove there and bought it! Like a lot of you, I figured that with the doors coming off a lot it would be easier without extra wires to fool around with and what good are power mirrors when they're home? And since I don't have a garage the doors don't stay off for long periods of time, so it's fewer plugs - or at least less complicated ones - to worry about crimping or cracking. This is the first vehicle I've had in - I don't know, 15 years or so - without power locks and windows and it's actually kind of fun without them.|

hi, i have had 3 jeeps with crank windows, and 3 with power windows, it's just what u like, however the power package msrp$650,
invoice $590,,for that amount u get p/windows with auto down,
p/mirrors that are great & heated, p/locks, alarm system (saves money on
car insurance) self locking doors@25mph, this package is a great deal, however if it's not ur thing then get the standard crank windows..
all the best it is ur jeep!!!
