|Kevbz||that ground goes up and attaches to the tub behind the gauge cluster|

|Jma20a||its very rare to have a safety tether that acts as the ground, so 99% of the time installers don't know about it.|

|CaptainYesterday||I can't match it to the wiring diagram, so they must have ran it somewhere else. I'll just tuck it back where it came from!|

|Jma20a||If its an aftermarket unit installed at a shop most of the time they will run the ground to a different location|

Now I'll just retrace all those wires to make sure the one tagged 'ground' is matched up to this one.

What is this wire behind the stereo?
have a 2001 Wrangler and I need to identify this wire behind my stereo. I have no clue where this is supposed to be plugged in.
It is a flat, silver braided wire covered in foam/insulation. It appears to originate behind the instrument panel on the left. The end of it is connected to a small black wire that isn't hooked up to anything.
It doesn't appear to be the ground wire - a different wire is tagged ground.
I posted a pic in the hopes someone can identify this thing and tell me where to stick it! HA!
