Did you completely disconnect the exhaust before the cat? Can you explain exactly how you did it? And when you say new computer where did you get it from?

BDK Even a new one can be bad. If its a aftermarket china one it could be toast. Pull it and return it and try another one.

Find a wiring diagram, and get a DVOM and check all your sensors and solenoids at your computer harness, make sure all your power and ground circuits are working....

and yes, even a reman or new computer can be bad.....

and good luck!

Since you are in Florida, i wont ask you to ship your Jeep to me before you blow it up...
Lol yea it's given me nothin but problems for a couple weeks and some Guys were saying a bad coil cause my timings out and the engine never runs at a constant rate it slows down then catches its self and runs horrible

and good luck!

I hear you on that, went through 6 remaned alternators, would get 1mo to 1 week before the died, last one finally left me stranded 1hr from home. Got a ride to the Napa and had to find similar alt in their stock just to get home. Went out the next day and bought a new one!

Remanufactured= replace a couple things that were bad, leave the rest.

Rebuilt= All new guts

BDK Could be a bad computer. Reman is crap sometimes!
04-11-2012 08:28 PM
The youngin and jeeper It only idles normal for twenty seconds top then it runs horrible and sputters and kicks hard and hits only once every couple seconds

Not so. When I installed my dizzy I was out of time and it idled like a new one but fell on its face under load. I ignored timing for a long time because it idled so well. I believe the ECM was correcting as much as possible at idle but couldn't advance enough through the RPM range.

Believe it or not, some 95's have to be programmed, Early OBD2 with an OBD1 interface.
GM and Ford did it more then Chrysler, but they actually use an OBD2 interface.

sevenservices Double check it,

04-11-2012 10:14 AM
sevenservices are you sure all the plug wires are on the right plugs??? I would double check the firing order for your engine and be sure your wired up right. It sure sounds like a couple might be reversed. Timing doesn't usually change itself on the fly...

oh, and yeah the computer hookup under the dash is for vehicles 96' and newer. Did it sit for awhile? I've also seen some water in the gas cause the same type of issue. And, I've also seen an air box packed full of leaves from mice cause a complete loss of power.

You will need a scaner to download it though. The fact that your asking where it is makes me assume you have not had it downloaded. I highly recomend finding someone to download it because it will give you fault codes to help troubleshoot. Advance and autozone will download it for free if you can make it to one of the stores. If not, the OBD scanners are pretty common in a mechanics garage.....someone you know should have one
