Chunks AEV 2.5" lift with 17" Rugged Ridge wheels and 285/70/17 tires...rides great!

stevebanzai I'd go with 17's if the cost isnt a factor. They look much better than the 15's. I'm not so sure if I like 15's on a JKU either..

As far as lift is concerned I have the rock krawler 2.5 stock mod lift. And bilistein 5100 shocks. Haven't done anything else to the jeep except cut the stock fenders. I will be Regearing next month to a 4.88 gear ratio. And also going to get the procal system.

clvnmcd summed up the exhaust spacer perfectly.

As for the other mods that could be possible:
  • AEV Procal (this one is certain. it is needed to *tell* your Jeep about the larger tires so your speedo/tripomoeter/etc are correct, set the TPMS threshold to 0 if you don't put then in your new wheels/tires, etc)
  • Regear (depending on which gears you have stock, you may be able to live fine with the 35s. or you may hate life! luckily, the 2012s with their new engine and tranny fare much better with 35s and stock gearing in most cases when compared to previous years. since you have a Rubi, you either have 3.73 or 4.10. 4.10 would be preferable here)
  • Sleeve/Gusset (if you wheel with any regularity, you may want to sleeve and gusset the front axle. the sleeves strengthen the axle tubes and the gussets strengthen the Cs)
  • MPG hit (not a mod, but you will undoubtedly see a nice size dip in your MPG with 35s)

clvnmcd 4fit was probably talking about the teraflex exhaust spacers, they move the y-pipe portion of your exhaust back so that in full drop with the sway bar disconnected you do not hit the driveline boot on the exhust and tear the boot. If you do then you are out approx. $500 for a new driveline. I installed the spacers shortly after my 2.5" teraflex coil lift.

Not sure what other mods come along with the 35's other than the need for the lift. Can you tell me what I should expect? For example the exhaust spacer that you mention, where does the spacer go? Thanks for the help.

Those really look cool! How much of a lift do you have on those 15x35? and can you give me tire/wheel combo specs? Did you have to use in additional spacers between the wheel and the axle?

clvnmcd Enjoy the Rubicon, Looks just like mine, before the modding bug hit me. 15's or 17's either is a good choice, just comes down to personal preference, I myself have the 17's with 35" duratracs.

1st MOD, AEV 2.5" Lift on either 15" or 17"....

Just bought my JKUR last week, so pumped. I am getting the AEV 2.5" lift installed next week, even more pumped. I remember reading the forum a while back where someone was asking for measurements before and after a lift MOD, so I figured if there was anyone out there needing some info I would be glad to offer assistance.

As for tire/wheel combo, I am not sure what tire wheel combo to go with as far as 15" rim or the 17" rim. I like the 17" with 35's look because I have seen enough of them to like, but I can't seem to get away from how meaty the 15" on 35's might look. I have seen some pics on here of people with 15x35's and to me the look is a bit smaller overall than the 17x35. Well, any input is welcomed, and I have read most of the latest threads on this never-ending debate. Fuel has come out with a matt black only 15" rim that we (American Wheel and Tire) are going to try and see the fit, otherwise I am leaning toward the MB72 in chrome.

Anyway, I enjoy the forum and figured I'd share in my modifications. Gonna try and attach a pic of my new ride as a "before" pic. Thanks to all who contribute to this forum. The info has been, well...very informative.
