i had the day off and spent all day with my jeep. put the carpet back in from when it got soaked, cleaned the inside, washed the outside, took the top back down, doors off. bought a steering wheel cover. shortly after this shot i went 4wheelin for the first time and got it muddy as hell lol. was a total blast tho.

i was too syced to wait untill tommarow so i alrdy took them off. i only read the first post. went to my pops house to see what he recomends and 13mm open ended wrench is the correct tool for this.
o did i mention its frickin awsome?! i had no idea what a blast it would be doorless.
we started on the passenger door. it was a PITA. lots of wd40, swaying the door back and fourth, rubber hammer, and 2 strong guys using elbow grease.
the driver side door was second, we sprayed with wd40 and we both just lifted it up no problem. no need for rubber hammer or anything.
thanks, doorless is how i roll now.

|Jma20a||i don't take the fuse out, you can tug the buttons that turn the interior lights on a off and then unclip them from the harness.|

I use a 13mm wrench to remove my door hinge pin nuts. Remember to switch you lights off; when you take out the fuse the warning buzzer does not work. Taking off the doors is a piece of cake; here are a few tips though: be careful not to scratch the bottom edge off your doors when you store them as rust will start. Wind the windows down first; it will make handling the door easier and protect the glass. When re-hanging your doors be careful not to bump the threads on the hinge pins, it will make putting nuts back a pain in the ass, and lastly remember when driving you will have no wing mirrors so changing lanes and backing up requires more care.
Hope this helps.

If anything, there is a nut under the hinge that needs to be removed, I wanna say 10mm, but I'm probably wrong.
If there isn't a nut, then the doors should lift right off with one spray of WD-40.
and to quote Jerry, yes the doors are heavy, about 50lbs a piece.

|slippy||ha. ok awsome, less work then what i thought. ill just tape it up and use a monkey wrench im guessin|

|Jerry Bransford||You don't remove the hinges at all. In fact, don't remove them (!) as doing so will just screw up the door alignment. The ONLY thing you do to remove the doors is to remove the hinge-pin nut at the bottom of each of the hinges. One hinge-pin nut per hinge, nothing else is removed. Once both nuts on a door are removed, you only lift up on the door to remove it. Careful if you have the full steel doors with roll-up windows, they're heavier than they appear.|

going doorless tommarow. i know to pull the #4 fuse behind the glovebox, use wd40 and sway the door back and fourth to help remove them.
but what is the actual tool to unscrew the hinges?
im guessing its torx but i dont know what #.
also, the buttom hinge looks simple, undo the 2 bolts.
on the top hinge, do you unbolt the 2 bolts on the hinge, and the 2 bolts that wrap around to the front (4 total).
just making sure i leave the hinges on the door,
or takes the doors off and leave the hinges on the heep.
