Westbrook Alright I may try the disassembling. I'll make sure to keep good track of what I do for other with the same problem in the future. If I'm not successful, what year Durango steering box will work for a replacement and is it just a straight swap out?

AC0QR I currently have this problem.

I did research, and it seems that the "input shaft" seal is leaking. Details were sketchy, but you need to unbolt the steering shaft, pull the pitman arm, remove the hoses, and unbolt & remove the unit from the frame. THEN you need to pull the retaining nut from the input shaft. The only detailed account I found ended with the guy unable to remove this nut.

I believe he eventually gave up and replaced the entire unit with a box off a Durango.

I'm feeding mine Lucas Stop-Leak. When it gets bad, I'm going to take a shortcut and go straight to the Durango box.

Mr_RPM i bought a warranty with my jeep threw an independent company when i bought my jeep used. its a 100 dollar deposit every time i make a claim, but after that it was completely covered. it would have been 375 out the door installed.

I just swapped mine out for a remanufactured one, I'm hoping it will have less of a chance of spurring the same problem again, was about $90 for the part

Power Steering Leak

There is power steering fluid leaking from the top of my steering box, around where the shaft actually goes into it. Has anyone had an issue like this before? Would power steering stop leak fix it and, if so does anyone have a recommendation for brand? Thanks in advance, I can get pictures tomorrow if that would help.
