stuckinwater I do it more than from time to time. But not too often. When I cruise down the highway it's at about 3000 but it's not for long periods of time

WaterDR You can shift whenever you feel like it up to redline. You won't hurt it. In fact, you should spin it up from time to time. Clears things out.

stuckinwater I have 98 4 banger 5 speed too and I shift at about 2700 in town and when I'm pulling onto the highway I shift at about 3500 depending on the distance of the car behind me. But cruising down the highway I shift at about 2700 also

shift rpm

just wondering what the recommend shift rpm's are. this is only my 2nd manual tranny in 40 yrs of driving not counting the ones in the military and we(ex/present military) all know we beat the snot out of those
i have a stock 98 4 banger w/5 spd. have the idiot shift light but that seems to come on way too low-i'd be in 4th by the time i got through an intersection after stopping going by that. to me it seems to work/sound/feel the best somewhere between 2500 and 3k-does this seem about right.
thanks
