Thanks man, I appreciate your knowledge. To err on the side of caution though, I did replace the rear ujoint that connects to the transfer case. (I've had 4 separate 4wds that had the ujoints go within the first year. "It's a Pete thing" lol)
Either way, I'll find out soon enough if that was it. But an alignment is definitely on the todo list in the next week or two.

Pete, If it shutters at 55mph , more than likely a wheel / tire combo is out of balance or a bad tire cord. The "vibration" that everyone speaks of with a TJ is a Jeep thing...they just vibrate. My 06...completely stock, had a shutter at 2k RPMs in first gear and mostly through 2nd...once in 3rd - 6th it was fine. I just lifted it 4" with a Zone lift...to my amazement ALL the vibration or shutter is gone. That said, today I am pulling my Dads 06' transfer apart to do a SYE ...because his vibrates with his Rough Country 4" lift....go figure. In short, some Jeeps shutter some don't --- stock or lifted.
As for the rattle you speak of ...yup my 06 when stock had it too. You can almost make it out to be on the drivers side floor area.......it still does it now that its lifted. My Jeep had just turned 50,000 miles ....I think its a Jeep thing. Drive it.

(Bear with me, I'm doing this from my phone so please forgive the occasional misspellings and auto filled words)
Bought my 06 in October, everything was great until a week ago when I noticed that getting up to highway speed, 55+, I felt a vibration in the clutch I'd never felt before. Although this is a terrible description, I'd describe the vibration as though the gears were spinning too fast... I dunno, I have an overactive imagination.
Anyway, thought it may have been a one time thing, didn't notice it at all this week until today driving you my buddies house. Happened for a few seconds until I slowed down to 50 or below. Got to his house, hung out for a while, then I got back in and the vibration was there in 1st gear with the shifter head moving noticeably and so on through the gear changes. Limped it home, and now, on top of the vibration I notice a rattle under her that's there until I engage the clutch.
The two may be completely unrelated, which is just heartbreaking. I'd hoped to have broken the first thing doing something I know I shouldn't.
I'm a little strapped for cash, so I'd like to nail down a few good leads before I start replacing things just because.
Thanks all in advance,
2006 X, 4.0 i6 manual, completely stock...
