euroford i had a basically stock cj3a last year... despite some good efforts on my part to fix stuff i just couldn't make it go down the road/trail decently whatsoever.

so... the mods began

and shall continue.

iNtErNeT_rYaN I was going to buy a nice Arizona "original" 1978 CJ-5, but the lack of tilt and just plain original left me wanting more. So I bought this today it just had a couple of mods.

Dusty Rhodes I have a fairly original 1966 CJ5. Original paint, original everything. I have made a few changes but nothing that is irreversible. I put in an SM-420 compound low transmission, 11" self adjusting, drilled drum front brakes, and adjustable oil pump and a gas can/spare carrier on the rear.
I also have a 2006 rubicon. I cut my jeep teeth on earlier jeeps than this 66 and have to say the rubi, in stock condition will out perform any modified CJ5 I have ever seen.
But I still like to hit the road and trails in the old 66 and it will still surprise me and a lot of others. But I like the old ones stock. Anyone can sink a ton of money into one of these old jeeps, but at the end, all you have is an old jeep with a narrow wheelbase, limited options and lots of maintainence.

Its for sale if anyone is interested.

Dempsey Let's see

Tub...nope new panels
Engine..nope built up
Doors...yeah...wait mine came with soft top...nope

Yeah I don't think mine falls under stock.

I do love seeing stock CJ's. Guy up the road has one he bought new. Show room nice. I occasionally look at it to see what mine was factory.

Tuxedopark Mine is a 66 CJ-5 Tuxedo Park with a Dauntless V-6. Original drive train, frame, springs, grill, dash and hood. Fiberglass tub and front fenders. 1973 windshield. 15” wheels and stock tires. Original black vinyl seats with denim covers. No sound system, just an I-Pod with ear buds. Factory roll bar added in 1971. I purchased the Jeep in 1971 for $1,325.00.

CJ-John Mine is practically stock now but I'm yet to start my mods on it. May do a body off this summer to keep the rust bugs at bay. then the changes begin! I'm the third owner the first kept it 100% stock the second put a plow on it and a hard top and doors from another CJ. That's it since 1979

Cj7otr You may hard pressed to find any stock cjs here. For example, my cj is an 80. The axles are from an 83. The springs are from a YJ. The V8 is from a 76 cj. The soon to be installed tranny is from a 69 ford truck. Seats are all new. Drive shafts are Tom Woods. Gears are from an 83, although the carriers are from an 80. Top/doors are aftermarket. New wheels and tires. Glove box and center console are aftermarket. Bumpers are custom. Transfer case is original, but I rebuilt it with new low gears...

Wow...come to think of it there's not much but the body & frame that are original. It was bone stock when I got it in 2004!

Original or least mods

I started a thread over in the JK forum on bone stock JKs and it got me thinking, who's driving an "all original" or "bone stock" or very little mods CJ? Tell us about yours!!
