KLiK3xs I bought 4.27 and master kit's from Baseline 4x4 Outfitters. Quick response, well packaged and good price!

(ordered the Rugged Ridge raised winch plate recently also great price!)

YJPeteCC Oh yea, the rear pinion bearing in mine is starting to make noise again. That pinion is tiny so look for a warranty.

YJPeteCC No, but your not going to be racing down the highway at 75mph. I have never gone bigger than 33" tires on mine, so I don't know for sure, but the wind makes my speedo move.

YJPeteCC - Are you telling me that I will never be able to use fifth gear after the axles are corrected?

YJPeteCC Do some research before you buy. I got mine through 4wheel parts, they offer a life time no questions asked warranty. Even on the install kits, even if missinstalled or abused. I've exchanged mine once already. I have the same Jeep, running 33" tires. You may have problems getting to highway speeds with 35's.

I'm assuming that your Wrangler has 4.10's in it now? because of the 2.5 and the 5spd. The gears that the Ebay listing is for will work if you already have 4.10's. if they are higher than 3.73's then you will need a new carrier as well. Your front end is a Dana 30, so the gears for a D35 wont work in it. And like it was said above, if you only want to do the rear take the front shaft off, it only takes about 2 revolutions of the tire in 4wd with different gears and you will need a new transfercase as well.

XJ Knight Should work fine although I dont think your link comes with a mater overhaul kit as well which you will want. You will also need to go to 4.88's in the front as well so you'll need to get a ring and pinion gear set and overhaul kit for the D30.

Xpress Re-gearing your D35 will run you around $750+ to have it done properly. Or you can buy an 8.8 for ~$300 and invest another $200 or so into getting new perches welded in place and fitting your brake lines to it, then just bolt it in place.

They were designed by qualified engineers, no doubt about that. But it's incredibly evident that they were also sh*t faced the whole time they were putting the D35 into the Jeep, let alone designing its pathetic form. I've already warned you about how weak it is, don't come posting about how you broke it when it breaks.

renegade X I do not have a doubt in my mind that you guys know what you are talking about, but I am not spending all the money on another axle then whatever conversion I would need for say a Ford axle. These things were designed by qualified engineers, so I am not worried about it. If anyone has any idea if these gears will work, please reply.

Xpress It's not that the D35 is an old axle, it's that it's a poor quality axle to begin with. Don't waste your time, money, or effort on putting ANYTHING into it unless you got the components for FREE. I only re-geared mine because I happened to have a gear set from another D35 on hand.

Invest into an 8.8 axle, ESPECIALLY if you're rolling on 35" tires. The D35 was designed to be just fine with the stock 215/70/15 tire size (that's a 28" tire) as long as the Jeep was kept primarily on the road with light offroading here and there. 35" tires on it is basically a ticking time bomb ready to explode at any moment, street or offroad. Don't waste your money on it.

Invest into a Ford 8.8. You're going to be putting your money towards something you just simply won't have to worry about if you do.

XJ Knight 1. What ever shop you use to have them installed will order them for you.. Superior Axle and Gear, Yukon, Motive Gear, G2, are some of the better options for brands

2. Both the front and rear have to be geared the same to use 4wd

3. Yes.. and to be safe if you went this route I'd take out the front drive shaft

For your axles the biggest gearing you can run is 4.88's so that is what you are limited to running.. I highly recomend looking into upgrading your rear axle as investing any money into the TurD35 is a bad decision.. An option for keeping said axle is upgrading it via a super35 kit from superior axle and gear

Judging by the chart Jeep Wrangler Gear Ratio Guide I should use 4.88 gears for my 35' tires? 1995 manual trans, 2.5L.

Questions:
1) Where is the best place to get these?
