Nomadarmy Well, after a few months of trying to decided which route to go, and just when I decided to go for a 2013 JKU Commando Green....just for the hell of it I made an offer for a 2012 JKU......! got it under Invoice from Cutter...only thing I didn't get on it that I wanted was a hard-top...will troll craigslist for a good deal later...

all in all it was an experience...especially with the games they all try to play....just stuck to my guns and made sure they knew I didn't NEED a new jeep...it was all dependent on price...they tried to fool me into filling out a credit app..."uh cash sale, wtf"? ..."oh uh, uh ...that is just the info they need to get paperwork started" ...Bullshit! .......they Tried the classic $195.00 etched glass theft protection crap.... Even had me sign some stuff that at a point I was like whatever...signed scribbles that don't even resemble my signature on a few things so it couldn't come back on me...should be in it by end of next week or start of the following.....yeah give me an experienced car sales men....those are the worst, love the head games they try to play...or even better when they try to play stupid...sure...how long you been doing this? If your going and need any pointers when dealing with them hit me up

I used cars direct and usaa for my price reference...got pre approved and knew what and how much i was going to spend OUT THE DOOR for it (tax, tags, jeep, etc)....ended up under that!... 2012 models are your best bet now for getting under invoice price

Blacktalon I had a very negative experience with the Honolulu Jeep dealership on Ala Moana Blvd. I unfortunately was being influenced by outside forces to get rid of my car by the boss(S.O.) so I didn't really have a choice other than to pay MSRP+their rediculous market adjustment BS. If you are just going to buy a new jeep straight out and don't need to deal with trading in your current vehicle as part of the deal I'd strongly suggest you go through a mainland dealer and ship it. Even if you have to pay freight from as far away as the East Coast states, then again from Long Beach, it'll be cheaper than the crazy markup+MSRP and you'll probably be able to get exactly what you want instead of the limited models they bring in through the 3 dealerships on Oahu.

Border Dave Have you tried Cars Direct? I put in a Honolulu zip code and it lists the price of the Unlimited well below MSRP. That's the way I bought my jeep back in 2001. You don't have to deal with the regular sales people. You would go through Fleet Sales.

Buying a New 2012 JK/U

Hey looking to buy a New '12 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited here on Oahu and I have to admit I'm a bit perturbed with the 2 dealerships....now granted I haven't sat down to talk brass tacs....yet.....I called the one on the winward side and the guy told me it would cost me MSRP PLUS $3990! I was like...uh what the hell is the $3990?? and he said "it's cause milk cost $5.00 a gallon" I $hit you not, that is what he said!...my response, "well I'm not buying milk I'm buying a jeep, and who pays MSRP anyway" he then hung up. needless to say I will not be buying one from that side of the island, which leaves me with the other one....(and still have to write Jeep HQ a very expresive letter)

1. I was a bit apprehensive due to my JAG has told me that they get more complaints about them than any other..but I'm not looking for used or financing..

2. They kinda went into the SAME song and dance but stated "milk cost $9.00 gallon" (where the hell are they getting there milk??) LMAO...do all the dealerships say this?

3. towards the end of the conversation I was told I'd be looking at MSRP...still....does everyone on island (Oahu) pay MSRP??? in case people don't know it stands for Manufacture SUGGESTED Retail Price. I have only once paid that and that was for a Scion, which was expected cause how the pricing works.


So my point and question is, after this rant, what are peeps here actually paying for a new jeep on island? MSRP? lower? is there really anyone fooled with the "rustproofing" mark-up...LOL..... I'm about tempted to start looking to have one shipped from the mainland thinking, even after shipping it might be cheaper

anyone recommend a good salesman/woman talk straight numbers...am looking to order not get stuck with dealer stock...(you spend that much you best get what you want!)
