Thanks for the info, I will definitely use it

Thanks for the information, I went out yesterday and drove a 4 cyl with both and auto and a 5 speed. I don't think the auto with a 4 cyl will work for me. My last 4x4 was a Montero and it was the nicest riding 4x4 I have ever been in. Both of the Jeeps rode better than my 3/4 ton Dodge w/a Cummins but not like the Montero. I started off looking for a convertible and not sure what to buy and since I live on acreage it would only make since that I get a Jeep. When my wife and I were out yesterday driving around in one of the Jeeps with the top off she couldn't stop smiling. I was pretty sure I wanted a 6 cyl but with my test drive and your information I know that is what I will be buying.

GDusek84 To be honest, they both get around the same mileage. If you plan on doing any major wheeling then I'd look for one with a D44 in the rear.

MrHix Gotta be a 4.0 if its automatic. I have a built Jasper 2.5 with full header & exhaust, cold air intake and the whole 9 with a 5 speed, still under powered. It'll get the job done but i test drove an auto 4 banger. Noooooo thank you. Im happy with my Tj no doubt, but seriously doubt id ever get another 4cyl.

purchasing a used Jeep Wrangler

I am getting ready to purchase a used Jeep and need an automatic. What engine would you recommend, 4cyl or 6cyl? Which would get me the best mileage? Thanks.
