kik Anything can happen but the odds are you're fine with another poly tank. Skid plates really aren't for rear end crashes anyway. There has been a poly tank, stock, on my 89 4.2 for 23yrs., without an issue.

Fuel tank help

About 2 years ago, I replaced my original rusted-out fuel tank with a new poly tank. It was working fine until someone backed into my Jeep and cracked the tank. I am trying to avoid buying a new poly tank and can't seem to find any replacement steel (or aluminum) fuel tanks for my '93 YJ. Any suggestions? Can I repair the poly tank and just get a more heavy duty skid plate to protect it, or do I have to buy a new poly tank and hope this doesn't happen again? I'm really hoping to get a metal tank again to avoid this problem in the future...
