|Jeep4zx||I did some research and it said that if your crank pulley wobbles more than 2 degrees it's shot, so what would be the best home way to test this?|

This is closest I could find, go about 1min into the video and that noise when he lifts the hood, is the noise I'm getting. Not the loud squeaking noise but the ticking.

|Jerry Bransford||My bet is your water pump has gone bad. A bad water pump can sound like you dumped rocks into a washing machine.|

|azwillysjp||I would like to help you more but you will save yourself time and money to having a proffesional look at your jeep, the trouble is your describing a noise that we can not hear or see with the written word, if you have chassis ears or a mechanics stethoscope you could narrow down the source of the noise. A good mechanical will be able to give sound advise on both the transmission and engine noise. If I had to guess though, it appears like the crankshaft pully/damper has seperated, if you look closely, the crankshaft pull has an inner metal ring rubber isolator and then an external metal ring that the belt is driven by, if you notice that the two rings are not perfectly aligned then the crankshaft pully/damper is bad.|

Jeep troubles help
Okay, So I bought this wrangler a couple days ago, and it has a bad rattling noise coming from under the hood. So I did what came to mind first, Replaced the idler pulleys, and the rattling is still there, so I got up under the jeep and listened and it sounds like its coming from either the crankshaft or the CS Pulley, When I watched the pulley in action it has a slight wobble, nothing like the idler pulleys, but it moved slightly. The sound is a metal on metal kind of sounds like if you beat a wrench softly but fast on the crank case. When you take off in 1st gear sometimes it will sputter and sometimes it won't. Not really sure if that is relevant but I did research and it said that it can cause it to sputter at low speeds. And problem number two, My 2nd gear and Reverse are hard to catch, and the clutch is spongy. is that a sign of a new clutch? Please help me I love my jeep and I need to know if it's going to get damage by driving it.
