geiman Any word on whether this event is going to be annual? Had I (or my club) known about it we could have brought possibly a good sized group of Jeeps. Do you regularly offer trails for wheeling or do you only open up for events such as this? Any way to get informed of possible future trail rides?

DM6156 Will this be an annual event? Post a lot of pictures!

I can't make it this year, but very interested if it goes on next year.

cougar2 The weather is going to be perfect this weekend in central PA -

See Ya'll soon ~~~

ps. We just couldn't wait ... the mud pit was opened by the first Jeep @ 10pm Thursday night .... after the local fire company pumped 3000 gallons of water into it

Reminders & Notes ~~~

Hi Everybody -

Based on all of the phone calls that we are receiving,
remember =>
Please have your registrations in the mail & post marked
NLT (no later than) 10/26/11 - if you want the "all inclusive" food package plan at the event.

Also ,, if you are a member of the ,, you already know they have cut in a new set of trails (with some awesome rock stuff) on the north mountain. They are, also, adding some cool new obstacles to the already existing trails up on the southeast mountain
Note => all obstacles are optional. PM me if you have any other trail questions, etc. ~~~

See Ya'll soon

Quadratec & Pepsi -

Just wanted to thank "Quadratec" & "Pepsi" for getting the event sponsorship ball rolling in the last two weeks. This key support is greatly appreciated for a first annual event !!!

cougar2 Note that => the NAMA show is next weekend (weekend after labor day). If you live fairly close to Penn's Cave, PA ... please try to make it in next weekend, too, for the show !!! It really is worth the drive ... an OUTSTANDING family event to learn & experience a part of the past from our American rural farmin' roots

Wheelin' for Wildlife ~~~

ps. And of course ,, I'm kidding you, Rook - no one is forced to try any of the optional obstacles unless they choose to do so

On a side note ... do not wait too long to send your registration paperwork in. We have already started receiving registration packets
from participants. There are only 100 Jeep positions open for the mountains trails on the Saturday of the event weekend (first to register = first on the mountain trail list)

NOTE: The remainder of the registered participants will still be able to run their Jeeps over obstacles on the infield show ground obstacle area that will be set up, too ~~~
If you have never been here before ,, here is what our show grounds (located beside the main Penn's Cave Visitors Center) look like during the fall Nittany Antique Machinery Show (NAMA) held here at Penn's Cave & Wildlife Park each year - click on NAMA's website to see some of their show photo's, etc. :

Wheelin' for Wildlife ~~~

No worries ... you'll be good to go - there will be lot's of experienced off-road vet's at the event.

Be careful, however, some of the old time vet's make the new rookies take their nice clean rig through the mud-pit right from the get go at the pre-run ~~~

chevellian sounds like a really cool event.
I am planning on attending, so you will have a rookie to deal with.

cougar2 Also ,, everybody - the Eagle Valley Off-Roaders are an awesome group of folks !!! They hope to make this their annual flag-ship Jeep event. Please consider joining the club, however, you do not have to be a member in order to register for this event. Remember the mantra for this event is: "Wheelin' for Wildlife" in support of wildlife & the environment. After all ... that's what the foundation is all about

Wheelin' for Wildlife ~~~

+/- 195 miles from Center City -

We are located 18 miles east of Penn State's main campus (State College).
If you are not into camping this time of year ... new Best Western opened 12 miles from the Park. Penn Stae football is off this weekend (no game) ,, so there will be plenty of other hotels to pick from as well . All of this info. will be listed in the online registration files, too .

ps. Get your popcorn ready ... there is going to be one heck of a mud pit competion on the last day of the event. If you do not like mud,, this part of the weekend will be just cool to hang out & watch

"Wheelin for Wildlife"

FYI - No matter where you might live in the mid-atlantic region,, the event staff is on a mission to make this an event well worth your long drive & attendance.
After this past Saturday's all day planning session here at the park,, the "event mantra" has become: "Wheelin' for Wildlife" in support of the foundation

Here's something that came out of past weekend's session:
- for the mudders ... there already is a mud pit fording basin out on one of the trails. However,, a 2nd tourist spectator mud pit & rock crawl area was approved for construction within walking distance of the main Penn's Cave Visitors Center. Even if you do not own a Jeep, however, you still think that they are cool - come on out,, hang out,, walk about,, park yourself & watch the mudders show off to compete.
Before it's all over ... you'll be thinkin' about ... how soon you can buy your first Jeep

All the event registration info. should be up by this coming weekend. I'll post a note to confirm once it is all up, etc. -
Thanks ,, Y'all ~~~

cougar2 Also, Tom - I cut & pasted my first post on this forum from another post I put up on a seperate PA forum. They seem to be working now when I actually type them into the post:

Tom - the event team is trying to put together a really cool event that we hope we can build upon each year. There will be travel trailer & RV camping allowed. Pop up travel trailers are allowed. Tents that are in the bed of a pickup are allowed - as well as the outfitter tents that unfold onto the top of ones vehicle are good to go, too.
Unfortunately,, no "on the ground" tents & open camp fires will be permitted.

I'll post a tentative schedule next week so everyone can see what all will be going on during that weekend ~~~
Thanks again -

This is a beginner to advanced off-road track / trails course that was put in and used by Hummer dealers back in 2003-08 time frame. The course has not been used since 2008. We are in the process of bringing it back to life ... updating & adding new trails , too ~~~

"No Roads" Necessary - Wildlife for Everyone 2011

Hey Ya'll -
You might want to consider getting together for our event this late fall 2011. We are hosting an off-road Jeep event here in our park ( It will be the weekend of:
11/4-6/2011. We have donated the use of our 35 miles of private mountain off-road trails for this event. Also,, part of the registration fee's will be going to the foundation ... a great cause = "wildlife & the environment" ... treading lightly ,, of course
We are currently in the process of assembling an event team. Registration will open sometime in August for this event.
