Interesting, thanks for the input. I guess it would be better in the long run to learn to wheel with out them. Plus it would probably be better for my wallet...

n2jeepn I would learn to drive without lockers, first. I have a 2006 Rubicon with front and rear lockers, and do not use them, when I do it is only for a a few feet then I turn them off. Last trip in Moab I ran 4-6 rated trails and did not use the lockers. Learn to drive with fineness.

When and if you get lockers you really need to understand how to use them, I've seen to many vehicles get into more trouble with lockers as they were being used incorrectly for the situation they were in.

badmts I have LOCK RIGHT in rear and SPARTAN in front and if I have the money I will go ARB in front asap. The rear is fine even with 33's and 4.56 gears (yes it clicks and jerks sometimes but it draws attention so I like it) but in the tight stuff the front locker fights you sometimes,you will wish for selectable but on hill climbs with 10 psi in my tires I quite literally drive around the unfortunates without front lockers! if the majority of your wheelin is tight forest like evans go selectable if mud/snow/hills is more your taste go lunchbox! I am not a fan of any LSD ,heck it says SLIP in the title.

nwapache No such thing as a stupid question.... A locker 'locks' both wheels together. When the tires try to rotate at different speeds the steering binds up and one wheel must break free. This is a problem on pavement and makes for an uncomfortable experience.
A limited slip allows for different rotational rates between the wheels. It's not truly 'locked' but a great compromise for jeeps that see pavement.

Drix I would wait honestly if it were me. I would do replacement of the Dana 35 first. I say this only because if your looking at building which is sounds like you are, the Dana 35 is your weakest link. And if you do locker and gears and end up going with a Dana 44 / ford 8.8 rear you will be spending the money twice. On the rear end.

With that if you are just wanting something a little extra. I would do a tru-track up front. Yah it's limited slip. But all the reviews I have read are positive. And also my rear is locked already. but that is just me.

Lockers in WA

I'm thinking about getting non-selectable lockers but theres a few things I need clarified.

First: Should I get front or rears? I have a 06 TJ 2.5L with D30 in front and D35 in back with 29s and stock gears which I'm thinking of getting bigger tires and regearing eventually. So far what Ive heard is go with a front locker.

Second: Which brand locker should I get? I dont really have the cash for a selectable locker unless anyone knows of one for under around $300, which is my max budget on one for now.

Third: This one is most important, would they be good here? It only snows sometimes so would an automatic locker be ok in the front with the few inches of snow the eastside gets?

Thanks for any help, anyone with any experience with this would be really helpful.
