everyone is on the right track...here a write up on it.
TJ Jeep Problem with Instrument Guages.
the only thing i would change is when he says a 15 degree twist...i describe it more as a push to one side about a millimeter or two...
its kinda like when a plug in your house is worn and loose and you squeeze the prongs together so they hold them selves in the outlet....same concept only you are moving them all to one side a bit so they hug the connector a bit more.

My jeep did the same thing when I first bought it. Remove the dash cluster and clean the plugs and the prongs with electronic parts cleaner. Also make sure all the prongs are making contact inside the plugs and aren't bent down. Then reassemble the dash carefully to make sure there is nothing cockeyed going on that would put pressure on the cluster.
I thought about using dielectric grease but elected not to and to test it first... Sure enough I've been problem free since last Nov. you can use dielectric grease if you want as some extra insurance...

It's a commom problem but always worded differently, so searching is tough. There are a number of threads on this issue though.
The electrical connectors to the dash module get corroded / aren't seated fully. Take your dash apart. There are two electrical connectors on the back. Pull them off, and clean the contacts, no abraisives, they are lightly plated. Use a electrical "contact cleaner". They can be bent very very lightly to tighten up the contact. Reassemble.

99 TJ Sahara electrical issues? Help!!!
Hello! for one im new to this forum. ive looked a bit and i couldnt seem to maybe find the same issue im having but idk. maybe i didnt work hard enough. Alright! so i bought my 99 TJ Sahara with about 89k on it. Well on my way home from buying it the speedo and tach dropped to zero but the engine was still runing and i was doing about 65 down the interstate. I just gave it alittle "love tap" and they popped back on. well since i got it its been doing that alot less after ive tinkered with it alot but now for some reason when i turn on the turn signal and brake at the same town the turn signal (doesn't matter which direction) stops blinking and just stays solid. Ive checked my 4 ways and turn signals without braking and they work perfectly fine. and this is a intermediate problem, so sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't.
I am just hoping maybe someone else has had the same issue and can somehow help me out. any suggestions would be amazing.
Alittle back ground on me though. This is my first jeep. Always wanted one but was to caught up on building my cars and going fast to stop and buy a jeep. now im here with a Jeep and loving everyminute of it! just want to get all the little things out of the way and clean everyhting up before i start setting it up with barfenders and getting it trail ready.
